Selfhost offline software
Some were able to have power on their computers with generators, solar panels, etc.
And I know you can have data connectivity with SDR or HAM radio.
But my question here is, what are some good self-host/local offline software that we can have and use for when something like this happens.
I know kiwix, and some other for manuals. Please feel free to share the ones you know and love, can be for any type of thing as long as it works completely offline, just name it.
Of course for GNU/Linux (using Arch myself BTW).

The Conservative Quebec [sic?] platform, unveiled recently by Leader Pierre Poilievre, says: βA Conservative government would put an end to the imposition of woke ideology . . . in the allocation of federal funds for university research.βUsing similar arguments β especially with regard to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies β the Trump administration has systematically cut federal funding for critical scientific research. Projects studying vaccines, infectious diseases such as HIV, and the health of sexual and gender minorities were specifically axed.
Despite Poilievreβs attempts to distance himself from Trump in some areas, his platform reveals he would follow the same path in attacking critical research, which should be free from political interference.
Voters must take this seriously. Canadians deserve better. We deserve a government that wonβt muzzle scientists and wonβt silence research when it is not convenient for a political agenda.

I actually hate this quote because idiots around me use this thought pattern to reject the results of rigorous scientific studies in favor of their isolated, personal experiences.
To them, "Science" is an much an authoritarian imposition as "The Party" and "Scientism" is the worst "cult".
Yes, your experience is valid. But, it doesn't trump shared objective reality, which good science reveals.

Okay, so remember when I told everybody to hold April 19th? Hereβs where you can search for a 50501 event near you, and there are definitely going to be other events on the same day by other groups.
It will NOT be as big as April 5th. But a good turnout is important β and basically will continue to be important for months and months.
The next really massive turnout day looks like itβs going to be May 1st, though. Reserve the day. Indivisible is cooking something up, 50501 will be in on it, so will a lot of other people, or so I hear. Put it on your calendar now, so youβre ready.

I'd like to mention rook, my project, which is a secret-service-like tool backed by your Keepass DB. Not using a bespoke DB is both more secure, and more importantly, means you don't have to manually keep your passwords in sync across multiple password managers. It provides support for pin access which, when used with the Linux kernel keychain, can provide session-limited access to unlocked DBs.
Rook is in both the Arch AUR and Alpine Community repositories.

I'll likely be downvoted for this, but if you're committed to Linux, you might want to reconsider using Ubuntu (or Fedora for that matter). Ubuntu has a well-earned reputation for trying to make things "easy" by obfuscating what it's doing from the user (hence that useless error message). They're also a corporate distro, so their motivations are for their profit rather than your needs (wait 'til you had about Snap).
A good starting distro is Debian (known for stable, albeit older) software. It's a community Free software project and the 2nd-oldest Linux distro that's still running as well as the basis for a massive number of other distros (including Ubuntu). The installer is straightforward and easy too.
Or if you're feeling ambitious, I'd recommend Arch or Gentoo. These distros walk you through the install from a very "bare metal" perspective with excellent documentation. Your first install is a slog, but you learn a great deal about the OS in the process, ensuring that you have more intimate knowledge when something goes wrong.
