After finishing his time-traveling mission, an elderly Steve returns to the main MCU timeline and passes down his red-and-white Vibranium shield to his former sidekick, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), upgrading him from the Falcon to the new Captain America. After bestowing his shield to Sam, Steve then goes back in time to reunite with his beloved Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell).

Is that the right order of events, though? Seems mixed up to me.

in reply to Tikiporch

Seems like a transformer model (gpt, not decepticon) summarized the movie's end without being fed the context / subtext of how movies can do visual storytelling.

Read the title and thought it was trying to make out Captain America into a person who also traffics kids.

Radical Activists Are Now Resorting to Voodoo To Fend Off ICE Agents

"Radical Leftists"... What a riot. I thought they were ICE. Turns out they're just snowflakes.
in reply to ɔiƚoxɘup

Being ice and a snowflake isn't mutually exclusive. In fact, it would be weird if they weren't ice, given what snow is.

Noise machines installed by LA Home Depot ‘torture’ for day laborers, advocates say

Another spokesperson for the company insisted that the noise machines are “a safety initiative … intended to deter and prevent illegal overnight parking in the area” with no connection to “immigration enforcement”.

How about you spend some lobbying dollars on making housing more affordable so that people don't need a place to park overnight in the first place? You literally fucking sell building supplies for homes ... it's sort of in the name.

“a safety initiative … intended to deter and prevent illegal overnight parking in the area”

Ah. So you only turn them on at night, then.
Right?

Palestinian prisoners speak out about how they were raped in Israeli jails

In exclusive interviews, two Palestinians detained in separate Israeli prisons recount harrowing details of violent sexual assault

Thank you for the archive link! Emphasis mine:

They didn’t mean to harm you. But they didn’t see you in the 1970s as deindustrialization took your jobs; in the ensuing decades as your families and communities broke apart; during all those decades when high immigration levels made you feel like a stranger in your own land.

Press X to doubt

So glad he included a dog whistle in there. Really brings the point home. As if deindustrializations whole purpose wasn't to literally take away your jobs and send them elsewhere because paying you made them slightly less rich.

"Dems shouldn't focus on the thing voters are telling them to focus on. Have they thought about bringing up how bad immigration is?"

Brown University shooting suspect found dead, police say

in reply to ɔiƚoxɘup

Especially with the FBI initially claiming no connection to the Brown shooting and assassination of a fusion researcher.

Okay, sure, maybe you could buy the assassination was a personal beef of some kind, but now we're supposed to buy that he snuck in, shot up a study group, then went after a random grudge from the 90's?

And my understanding (correct me if wrong) is that the same witness on reddit saw the guy before the shooting and after, a state away?

Pita pizza for today. Bread for tomorrow

The pizzas are
1) smoked mozzarella, sauce, and pepperoni
2) emergency goat cheese (garlic herb), and smoked muscles.

I put the bread for tomorrow in the oven and then started work on making the pitas from the large dough batch I prepped the other day. Once they were done I put the toppings on them and popped them into the oven with the bread and pulled everything out at the same time.

This allowed the oven to pull double duty to save a few cents of electricity.

But more importantly it let me know that from the moment I put the bread in the oven until the moment I pulled it out the complete prep time for these mini pizzas was 35 minutes. Less time than it takes for us to order a pizza and go pick it up and bring it home because I live in an area with no pizza delivery.

Cost per person: $3.01, tinned seafood isn't as cheap as it used to be.

What's with Lemmy: I'm always seeing unusually tiny pics on here, to the extent that it's likely not intentional by the users. Is that a me-problem or a common thing?

Set five years after the events of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, a Jedi (Gosling) trains his 15-year-old nephew (Flynn Gray) as his Padawan.

Ugh. Can we please just have stories about regular ass people fighting WARS in the STARS?! We don’t need a fucking Jedi or force sensitive person in everything or at least make them a background or toned down side character rather than the focus.

Give me a Rogue Squadron movie. I was excited about this movie until I read the above.

Mike Johnson sends entire house home ahead of Epstein files deadline

The House speaker doesn’t want Republicans to be around when the deadline comes.

House Speaker Mike Johnson is conveniently sending Congress home the day before the Justice Department is supposed to release the Epstein files in full. The announcement came Wednesday night.

This looks like yet another instance of Johnson doing every little thing he can either to delay the release of the files or to make it so that his fellow GOPers don't have to be in town to answer to their complicity in this monthslong campaign to avoid their release---as he did by egregiously delaying the swearing-in of Democratic Representative Adelita Grijalva for weeks.

"Like I said: view all political developments for the rest of the week in light of the fact that the Epstein Files are supposed to be released on Friday," Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wrote Wednesday evening on X. "House Republicans just suddenly canceled Congressional session Friday and are sending everyone home Thursday evening."

I am scared

I took this picture this morning. Mid December in Belgium and it is definitely not normal. The following scenario rolled out in my head: what if all plants bloom in December, don't get pollinated, then when bees wake up there's no food, they are decimated. Wouldn't that be a huge biological collapse?

I'm no expert in anything, just wanted to share this picture and thoughts

Cabinet organization.

Sometimes you just want things ready to grab. No opening a cabinet. No opening a drawer.

When I moved in I knew I needed to at least repair, if not replace, my cabinet doors. The plywood they were made from was delaminating on the corners. I took them all down, pumped them full of wood glue and put them back up.

This has had me blissfully not caring if I put holes in them for the last 8 years. So I just keep adding features for stuff that gets used frequently and I don't want to ever dig for.

Dry goods storage above the cabinets got installed first, a double magnetics knife strip so knives didn't go flying when you open the cabinet. Dry measuring cups, liquid measuring cups, pot lids for two sets of pots, small pastry rolling pin, instant read thermometer, pot holders, two skillets (one not seen to the left, a special shelf on the inside of a cabinet just got my instant coffee, and so much more like quick grab spice/oil racks over the sink.

Have you got any cabinet modifications you have done to make everything easier?
