Curious How Trump’s Cost Cutting Could Affect Your National Park Visit? You Might Not Get a Straight Answer.

National Park Service staff have received talking points ordering them to describe layoffs as “workforce management actions” and to reassure visitors that changes resulting from the cuts won’t impede “memorable and meaningful experiences for all.”

The phrase “workforce management actions” is a truthful as Putin's phrase "special military operation" for full scale war against Ukraine. #postruth #propaganda

Anyone have any meaningful additional detail on this? It's widely enough reported that it seems to be real, but it does not make any particular sense and the implications are profound.

We are grateful for this affirmation. Hopefully, there are not bad actors trying to block Signal from being used in Ukraine or anywhere else.

The publishers of the article should issue a retraction.

We've put a lot of effort into getting people along and make the whole event #Glo for the #GloRide.

The lights were riding out the door as fast as we could fit them.

From @pluralistic : Every time you hear "AI-assisted programmer," you should substitute "programmer-assisted AI."

In other words, who serves who? LLMs are really (really) far from being able to replace developers (or any knowledge-based professional). But they're more than ready to make everybody perform on the same mediocre level on the worst conditions imaginable.

Its the same as Amazon does to warehouse workers with all the "support" tech that is forced onto them.

"We’ve averted our eyes from the atrocity show
It’s better to beat up on the devil that you know
Say the charming men in uniform
Give praise to the empty heaven above
I reject the sword and embrace the dove
I see the world suffused with love
And the charming men in uniform"

Product photography morning today. Well, early afternoon, too. Always takes longer than you think.

Microchip Curiosity Kit, which looks so similar to the Discovery Kit I thought they'd sent me the wrong thing at first. Different chip at the heart, though: a PIC64 microprocessor.

The Vagina Museum is just one month away from closing. Forever. A perfect storm of circumstances means that we may have to close our doors permanently and cease all digital activities. But we're not going to go down without a fight. Save the Vagina Museum. gofundme.com/f/btscc2

This month is make-or-break. It is urgent. We have tried our best to make it work by attempting to negotiate with our landlords to pay our rent on a monthly basis rather than quarterly. We've done everything we can to reduce expenditure and bring in income. This is our last chance. gofundme.com/f/btscc2

Over the years, the Vagina Museum has come to mean a lot to so many people. We stand defiant in a world which needs us, but doesn't always want us. We are not afraid to tackle the taboo, the unfundable, the unpopular and uncomfortable topics. Our future is in your hands. gofundme.com/f/btscc2

@mcSlibinas Looks very 90s! Which weather model do they use?

I check ECMWF and GFS, which for our location often vary greatly. ECMWF underestimates the wind speeds on our hill, which GFS despite large cells gets right. Temperatures we will see tomorrow night! 😀

@mcSlibinas I use windy.com, which lets you select the model (bottom). And Open Meteo for long term forecasts (which are mostly lottery anyways).

Why are #SAP #BTP trial accounts still expiring after 90 days? Genius move if the goal is to frustrate users.

My master’s students will see their semester's work disappear within the next two weeks—right before the examination phase. And that’s after they already rebuilt everything in the Integration Suite because that trial lasts only 30 days. My guess? They won’t be choosing SAP tools for their next projects. (1/2)

How interesting this is, we are seeing the power of words. If there is no “content” but any attention to the name in any post as Luigi that is enough to trigger consequences for anyone who gives an up vote. One can’t even just “fave” some content. Too threatening to the Powers that Be. Maybe similar to just certain words appearing in a research document or historical record. That is all it would take to disappear some digital records. Good thing this isn’t possible in Fediverse.

A nightmare scenario would be if mankind were targeted by a pathogen that attacks our frontal lobes and changes our personalities, making us less likely to get along, reach a consensus, and understand others' points of view. Such a pathogen could bring an end to society as we know it. Unfortunately, the nightmare may be real and taking shape in SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19."

archive.is/Ux4f0

in reply to Kris
