A work in progress, but I'm keeping an eye on this.

"An online book-in-progress by Charles Petzold wherein is explored the utility, history, and ubiquity of that marvelous invention, logarithms including what the hell they are; with some demonstrations of their primary historical application in plane and spherical trigonometry."

After showing them in Cambridge a couple of weeks ago, they have been a popular seller.

Just caught up with the back orders, and a few left too.

You cannot "play nice" with people actively trying to destroy democracy. And yet, Schumer has spent his entire career folding at the worst possible moments. WHEN? When will the lesson be learned?!?

I am saying it once more.

If #academia and #highered do not QUICKLY develop a coordinated strategy of resistance, then MAGA will pick them off one by one.

“Half of this stuff you can’t just do and the other half is insane,” said Joseph Howley, a professor of classics at Columbia. “If the federal government can show up and demand a university department be shut down or restructured, then we don’t have universities in this country.”

Just look at every other authoritarian country. The leader ambushes and intimidates academia. We can’t let that happen here. While the lawsuits get going, we should protest. Loudly.

Greenland has had enough of Trump. Today all leaders of the 5 parties in the Greenlandic parliament proved it by signing a statement saying:

“We - all party chairmen - cannot accept the repeated statements about annexation and control of Greenland. As party chairmen, we find this behavior unacceptable towards friends and allies in a defense alliance.“

Trump is stepping into a minefield. Greenland has accepted a US base on its land — how long will that last?

in reply to Randahl Fink

Why play into Trump’s hands by arguing to remove the base, when you can simply put in a land rent invoice for, say, a billion dollars a year, backdated for, say, 60 years?
Was that not in Art of the Deal?
