Speaking as a US citizen, Canada buying the F-35 is one of the most inexplicable things I've ever seen. The reason the US bought F-35s was as a workfare project for Lockheed. But Canada, *you* have no incentive to stimulate the Texas economy by buying a product that doesn't work. I don't care if Justin already paid for some of them. Just drop it and walk away. It will cost you more to maintain the useless things than it will to just buy something else.

Tomorrow is the 2nd day of the Electronic Faire at Temple University! During the "sit and tinker faire", I plan to work on my personal website in HTML: Adding 88 x 31 buttons, a robots.txt page, and projects. I might also work on transcribing my dream journal into markdown files. Feel free to join me in that! I'm happy to chat about Iffy Books, the Philadelphia Mycology Club, and using the Air Gradient. You can find me wearing a SEPTA hat, mask, and pin that says "pixel" on it.
I'll also be attending @exquisitecorp's workshop "Programming a BASIC Game with Lee Tusman". Registrations are full but keep an eye out for slots that open last minute. charlesstudy.temple.edu/event/…

Tesla stock has given up roughly all its gains since the Nov. 5 election,
and has lost nearly half its value from a Dec. 17 closing peak of $479.86.
This week, analysts from Wells Fargo and JPMorgan lowered their price targets to $130 and $120, respectively,
suggesting the stock could lose nearly half its value from Friday's close at $249.98.
Wells Fargo analysts said they "initially dismissed" worries political backlash to CEO Elon Musk's involvement with the Trump administration would hurt the EV maker,
but recent protests and reports of vandalism against Tesla vehicles have challenged that,
as they "raise the stakes for potential buyers."
They highlighted declining sales in the U.S., China, and in Europe.

I wrote ~5000 words on what 40 hours of studying drawing can do. I know my drawing is not great, but it has improved considerably, and I believe it is a story worth sharing.

> Note: the book makes a point that drawing from the real world and even from imagination is not that different from copying other drawings.
this freed my mind from an old and needless burden
> The "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" asks the readers to draw what they see, and believe that whatever they draw will accurately reflect reality. "The Art and Science of Drawing", however, points out that a drawing is always an illusion.

Never mind that the US has demonstrated, in Ukraine, if it decides you're no longer an ally it will potentially lock you out of software on military equipment you bought from them. Never mind that you're looking at having to buy a entirely separate set of helicopters to rescue the F35s when they stop working because your country's too far north ( ottawacitizen.com/public-servi… )

Lockheed also appears to employ about 1,000 Canadians. However, a single F35 costs canada $216 million dollars not counting maintenance. So I propose Canada buy one fewer plane and directly employ 1,000 Canadians at $216,000 a year to sit in a room

But NASA already has job programs labeled "space". The SLS rocket program blows well over a billion dollars a year, and has launched its already-obsolete rocket only once, with a test Orion capsule (itself another boondoggle), but it has kept the lights on at favored contractors in the meantime.

I would not want to be a stockholder in Lockheed Martin right now. The felon-in-chief down there seems to have unintentionally cut the possible market for the F-35 to just the USA practically overnight. It's probably a really good day to be a Saab stock owner.
Unless he plans to allow sales to Russia and North Korea. I wouldn't put it past him, but the leaders of those countries aren't stupid enough to buy it.

As a result of the Government of Canada's involvement in the JSF project, 144 contracts were awarded to Canadian companies, universities, and government facilities. Financially, the contracts are valued at US$490 million for the period 2002 to 2012, with an expected value of US$1.1 billion from current contracts in the period between 2013 and 2023, and a total potential estimated value of Canada's involvement in the JSF project from US$4.8 billion to US$6.8 billion.[6] By 2013, the potential benefits to Canadian firms had risen to $9.9 billion.
