Hier mein aktueller Text dazu.

Bigger stepper installed and now my “steam punk” Blind controller is working! It’s slow as hell but it saves me climbing over my work bench to let some light into the room! Still need to mount the driver board and ESP32 but it’s mostly done!

Very nice.
Is the gear 3d printed?
Why a steppper and not a classical DC brushed with h bridge?
in reply to Alexis Krier

@Alexis_Krier I wanted an excuse to play with stepper motors 😁 (and yes the gear is 3d printed)

Prime minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen after Trump's words on annexing Greenland by sending troops to Pituffik Space Base:

"I should not have to repeat this, but Greenland is a part of The Kingdom of Denmark […] I encourage everyone to speak of Greenland with the respect the country deserves".

hello there, I'm back. I had no internet for 5 days straight and had some minor damage around the house due to the cyclone.
Here is a Dragon for you. I think it might like salty water. Or maybe it just came to see the sunset? Or possible it is just a Sea Dragon coming back home.

For climate and livelihoods, Africa bets big on solar mini-grids
Nigeria is pioneering the development of small, off-grid solar panel installations.
arstechnica.com/science/2025/0…
in reply to Ars Technica

Those panels need to be high enough to get under! Who designed those, pygmies?
The whole point of reducing and capturing the radiation from the sun with a raised system is that you reduce the local temperature under the panel, allowing increased cropping and grazing by animals that can also shelter.
in reply to Ars Technica

I wish US towns would do this as well, instead of scamming homeowners with solar loans.

Mr Meta-Facebook is throwing his weight around, desperately trying to have this book withdrawn (he is a big supporter of free speech) so obviously it's best others don't read it or share this information... he's already... errrm... 'obtained' an injunction preventing the author from further promoting it herself.

Covid, 5 years on: what have we learned?
Thanks to science, another spanish flu style catastrophe as in 1918 was prevented.
"The mRNA vaccines prevented millions of deaths. The technology for building new, effective vaccines quickly came on in leaps and bounds. Masks worked. And as with every pandemic in recent history, subsequent reviews have found that the advice to go early and hard with containment was correct."

"Thiel and Musk all but forced Trump to choose JD Vance as VP in exchange for funding his presidential campaign.
The three of them, plus a lot of other tech billionaires subscribe to an ideology called the Dark Enlightenment espoused by this super weird, creepy dude: Curtis Yarvin aka Mencius Moldbug."
linkedin.com/posts/sneider_dar…

The article has some useful context about Musk's career, notably what a sleazeball he has always been in his business and public dealings. It also points up the way governments have refused to do their regulatory jobs – and, less explicitly, how journalism has been a lapdog along the way.

But as it accurately points out Musk's desperate efforts to slow or reverse the well-deserved slide at Tesla, it doesn't get into the truly scary stuff. Namely, Musk won't give a damn about Tesla or its shareholders if his coup (per the first piece in this newsletter) succeeds. If he can divert U.S. government spending even more (see: SpaceX) into his bank accounts, Tesla will be an afterthought. Everything we know about this guy says there are no boundaries on his lust for money, and power. - @dangillmor

Newsletter: The real threat isn't AI using open knowledge — it's AI companies killing the projects that make knowledge free. The future of free and open access isn't saying “wait, not like that” — it’s saying "yes, like that, but under fair terms”.

in reply to Molly White

Instead of worrying about “wait, not like that”, I think we need to reframe the conversation to “wait, not only like that” or “wait, not in ways that threaten open access itself”.

Anyone at an AI company who stops to think for half a second should be able to recognize they have a vampiric relationship with the commons. By operating in this purely extractive way, they destroy the things that underpin their businesses.

Cheap, unreliable ceramic APU resonators lead to "constant, pervasive, unavoidable" issues.
arstechnica.com/gaming/2025/03…
in reply to Ars Technica

It's a problem for TASBot, not for regular speedrunners. Even with the variance, it amounts to microseconds of difference. I know, I submitted information on the 5 consoles I own. Also it's not nearly as common as you are making it seem. All 5 of my systems were in tolerance.
