Mudskippers (family Oxudercinae) are land-loving fish that can spend as much time, if not more, on land as they do in water.

A viral video on TikTok shows the bizarrely flappy faces of muntjac deer in all their glandular wonder. While it might look like the facial anatomy dreamt up by James Cameron’s Avatar, they’re actually an adaptation these animals have evolved to be able to scent mark their way through the wilderness.

@swope I just googled Descartes and apparently he spent a lot of time in bars with horses, and then disappeared from time to time.

Anyone know a good generic name for this style of connector? I tend to call them XLR but think that’s more specific to audio gear, found some similar labeled GX but those seem brand specific. What do you call these?
in reply to morgan

Either way, we use these M12 connectors all over the place in our stuff, in a variety of conductor counts.

Yeah my carpenter ants need more space to explore… look at how they have slowly gnawed down this tube. So today I hooked up a new outworld for them. #antkeeping #happyants #ants #antposting

Mmm. Microplastics!

I’m curious: How much space in your home do these ants occupy and how much more would you want them to have? How many levels (floor, eye level, ceiling, etc.)?

@helianthropy

They have about half of a book shelf. (Three shelves on a book shelf with six.)

They're becoming increasingly common in Mexico, I even got to ride in a BYD Uber once. I think a big part of the appeal there is that they make cheaper/smaller models than Western companies do.

The image depicts a fantasy character with elf-like features, including pointed ears and a long braid of reddish-brown hair. The character is wearing a dark, armored outfit with gold accents and a fur collar, suggesting a warrior or adventurer role. They are holding a wooden staff in their right hand, which is adorned with a leather strap. A gray cat with green eyes is perched on the character's left shoulder, adding a touch of companionship to the scene. The background is a gradient of dark to light, with a starry sky and a warm glow at the bottom, possibly indicating a sunset or sunrise. The character's expression is serene and contemplative, with a slight upward gaze. The overall composition and attire suggest a setting in a high-fantasy world.

Canned air is finally a thing of the past—for my needs at least.

I saw the AC-27 battery powered air blaster in a Project Farm video, I thought it was too good to be true... but then I was blown away! Level 2 Jeff video quickly running through why: youtube.com/watch?v=KopDir3J-V…

in reply to Jeff Geerling

.. and Jeff claimed he was blown away… We’re going to test that!
in reply to Jeff Geerling

I checked shortly after the original video, and Amazon.it had it from one seller… for 120 euro. Hard pass. Then a few days ago I found one (on sale for 40-ish) that was 3D printed BUT had a video showing it blowing away the box it came in. Hot damn, I’ve made the mistake of pointing it full power at my desk fan (while it was on), had to send the robot vacuum after that…

So I didn't get around to streaming any Celtic music last night because the server is suffering from a case of death. No matter, this is why we make backups!

So join me at O'Morain's Pub for a Post Patrick's Day celebration! Two hours of Celtic folk coming your way at 7:30pm, Central, or in about 10-15 minutes.

See ya there, at Radio Free Elsewhere!
