So I'm watching a letsplay of Car Dealer Simulator, which seems to be set in America, sometime in the late-2000s to today, and you have a computer in it you can use to sell cars online.

But look at the computer. That is a Sharp X68000! WHY ARE YOU BROWSING CARSALES.EGG WITH AN X68000, A JAPAN-ONLY 1980S COMPUTER?

in reply to Luna Lactea

@jackemled I mean, but so am I, and I don't use an X68000 regularly to buy & sell cars. I can't believe the protagonist of this random car is game is more of a nerd than me!

Try harder!! You could always use a relay computer to post to fediverse with a custom build relay USB keyboard.

This is a friendly reminder that if you live in the United States or for some reason have to visit, you should turn OFF face ID and/or biometrics on your phone.

They ARE searching phones for any and all dissent against the fascist regime.

They CAN make you open if it your phone is just locked with face ID or fingerprint.

If it's locked with a password you at least have a chance to say nothing but LAWYER.

1. Before getting on flight to Trumplandia backup your phone to cloud.
2. Erase phone and set it up either without a cloud account or using a dummy "clean" cloud account. Only install the default apps, no social media apps, minimal (family, emergency) contacts, etc.
3. Present "clean" phone at border if requested. Nothing to see here.
4. Once past the border gestapo erase phone and restore it from your real cloud account backup from step 1.
5. Enjoy your stay in Trumplandia and try not to get run down by a Cybertruck.

Today I went for a hike at Klelund, Jutland.

This 1648 hectare plantation is owned by Sofie Kirk Kristiansen (daughter of the LEGO family) and made freely accessible to the public. The area is a reserve for red dear, roe dear and wild boar, and the wolves have settled here too.

This is also the location where a British Royal Airforce bomber was shot down by a nazi fighter plane on February 26, 1944, killing four Canadian and three British crew members (picture 4).

Allies then. Allies now. ♥️

@inthehands @travisfw wikipedia has a page for the Honda Cog commercial. it's two 1-minute shots stitched together, and ~100 takes total over 5 days (plus months of planning). (they wrote "606" on a clapboard as a joke for a production video, and that became a viral factoid)

I honestly don't care if this is fake or not, it's a breath of clean fresh air to see nerds just being goofily nerdy instead of trying on the finbro hustle or the AGI apocalypse serious face

This is what the 3d probe guts look like right now. The ball bearings have copper wire soldered on so there's continuity on the wire when the hex spacer is flat. The spacer bars are hardened steel salvaged from old quarter inch tape cassettes.
Next I have to machine an insert that the probe tips screw onto, pretty well centered, and then I mount all this in the steel body, center it perfectly, and use that alignment to bore the hole for the shank.

E&P - The Voice of America is facing an unprecedented crisis. Journalists have been cut off from their newsrooms—emails shut down, phones disconnected, and no way to reach editors—leaving many in a state of uncertainty. VOA’s chief national correspondent, Steve Herman, finds himself among more than 1,300 colleagues placed on excused absence. editorandpublisher.com/stories…

I am always on here during my rotten remote job taking donation calls. It has gotten more interesting/tragic lately.

Got a call for #FreeSpeech tv from an elderly woman who recalled to me being a child in #Hungary huddling around the radio with her family listening to #VoiceofAmerica broadcasts so low they could hardly hear it. This was crucial as if their neighbors heard them they could be turned in and disappeared just for wanting to hear the truth. #trump is a #fascist #dictator

I wish VOA emloyees victory in their suit against the trump administration.
During the Cold War and beyond VOA was considered a beacon of truth and democracy. It is breaking my heart to see what is happening to it.

Rodney Brooks on the problem(s) with humanoid robots. So yeah sure Tesla is going to solve this, in a year? OR then deliver robots that you need to stay very well clear of when they are walking around…

You look at this Boston Dynamics video differently after reading the quote.
While impressive, Atlas is still essentially bruteforcing bipedal walking.

Simply searching ”dynamic bipedal walking” turns up a load of research articles and people have been at it for decades, so it is rather interesting that none of the most advanced bipedal robots actually use it!

Participated in a science fair thing with a friend in 1998. My dad knew a robotics researcher in Otaniemi that showed us a program for 2D-modelling of self-balancing walking robots and talked about the challenges in replicating human walking. 27 years ago! researchgate.net/figure/nverte…

HB 1208—introduced by state Democrats and widely supported by Colorado’s most powerful lobbying groups and politicians—would have slashed wages for some of the lowest paid workers in the state. Thanks to the overwhelming opposition of workers and labor organizations, the bill has now been severely amended. In a massive win for workers, the wage cut was scrapped. 💪🏼

@inthehands I'm just saying that, so far as I know from two people connected to Venezuela, you'll do yourself damage with the Venezuelan diaspora if you treat the Venezuelan government as credible. As well as with the whole spectrum, left to right, who see it as an authoritarian, corrupt government.

I don't see the upside of treating Cabello's statement as a slam dunk that pwns Trump. And lots of downside.

Btw, when optimizing the newly added images, I just realized how convenient is using Switcheroo. It can change file format, image size and quality at once. Previously I used Curtail, but if the image size was too big, I had to resize it separately, otherwise the compression was pointless. Switcheroo is op lol
