I got some USB-C PD trigger boards in and did a revision of my solder fume extractor to use a 12V fan and to attach the lower electronics bay much more securely now that it has a hood to keep the top shrouds together.
The 12V fan does perform better but the improvement isn't as significant as I had thought it would be. The 5V fan does a pretty good job with the hood in place.

Each time a person chooses not to buy a new Tesla because of Elon, it lands a triple blow to the company.
That's because Tesla isn't a company that just profits from selling cars.
A big part of its business is also generating emission certificates by selling EVs to legacy automakers (like GM, Ford, Toyota, Volkswagen, etc).
Those carbon credits "offset" the fossil fuel pollution created by the petrol cars those legacy automakers sell:

So let's suppose you decide to buy a Volkswagen EV instead of a Tesla.
Tesla doesn't just miss out on the profit from that EV.
It also misses the profit from selling the carbon credits for that car to VW.
Meanwhile, VW gains the carbon certificates for that EV, meaning it needs to buy fewer offsets from Tesla for its petrol cars.

I'm a deeply insecure and self-loathing person, so to keep from constantly self-deprecating, I sometimes switch it up and go over the top with elaborate self-aggrandizement. This is also hyperbole. So if I claim to have seventeen kids or that I email reporters my detailed plans of war (purely hypothetically, of course, as I can't imagine any situation wherein that would be funny), it's probably a bit that I'm doing. I've probably been doing it for so long that everyone has forgotten how it started and everyone but me wishes it would end. Such is the way of things.
I have the sort of ADHD which makes me overuse parentheses and subordinate clauses, so if I'm going to do it, I try to be funny about it. Like in that last paragraph up there, I was using that parenthetical phrase to make a sarcastic joke about fashy dipshits (and here I'm using this one to point out that I can be serious and joking at the same time because, in the fine tradition of comedy, if I don't laugh, I'll cry). I'm also anus-clenchingly meta. And I employ appalling language to achieve this.
Basically, you shouldn't read anything I write because it's up its own ass. There's that self-deprecation again. I'm fucking good at it too. I'm so good at being up my own ass that sometimes I even fool myself.
There's a reason why I never made it on Facebook. I don't want most of the people I know to read anything I write. Only when I'm blissfully anonymous can I let my guard down and lie to you all for shits and giggles. Sorry.
@Adventurer You mean my plan to take massive amounts of debt to my grave with me? Speaking totally seriously, I'm not sure but I'm optimistic, for certain definitions of the word "optimistic." I don't have kids, divorce would sever any bonds of indebtedness to my spouse I think, and provided no one claims me, I think it would be difficult to saddle anyone else with my debt, though I'm sure they'd try. I'm not totally sure, not being an accountant or lawyer, but I think there's a way to do it which would work even if it was more involved than simply cutting everyone else out of my will or whatever.
You'd be surprised how often you can get away without paying for things if you don't care about propriety or your credit score, honestly. If debt collectors are hounding you, they probably can't legally do much of anything beyond fuck with your credit score. They might take you to court, but they're probably not going to. And as I'll be dead, providing again that no one comes forward to claim me, I'm not at all sure what lenders and creditors would be able to do. They could seize my assets to pay my debts, but that's if I have any assets to seize. Court costs are more trouble than they're worth to most lenders. If they've got no one to go after, and if they can't ruin a dead man's credit, they'll just have to sit and spin.
Again, not a lawyer or accountant, so please don't follow my example, which was slightly doom-y tongue in cheek. What will likely actually happen is that I'll get divorced so my spouse won't have to take on my medical debt, and then hopefully I'll die rather than lingering long enough to get collected on or kicked out of whatever place is caring for me at that point. I'm not particularly cheerful about this prospect, but I have friends who had to get divorced for insurance purposes recently, so it's a distinct possibility.
I have never cared what happened to my body after I die, but my spouse would be very upset if they didn't get a grave or ashes or something, so for their sake I hope I die last. That's a cheery thought. Sorry.
@Adventurer I'm so sorry to hear that πβ€οΈ While it may be that there's no way to completely take your debt to your grave, there certainly are things I know you can do to minimize its effects on others. I hate that we live in a world where this conversation is necessary to have.
