Good to know CIA Director John Ratcliffe is fully onboard with the coup. Guess he's been a good sleeper cell for four years.

I have trouble seeing how this ends without violence. The courts better deputize some people with weapons while there's still a court system.

Breaking News: It gets worse, The Pentagon sent out a clear warning one week before the group chat disaster that Russian spies hacked their chats already by “targeting Signal Messenger to spy on persons of interest.”

A department-wide email went out last week warning everyone in the DOD that a vulnerability was detected in the Signal messaging app, which Hegseth, along with several other administration officials, including JD Vance, used to discuss bombing Houthi targets in Yemen.

The DOD email stated: “Russian professional hacking groups are employing the ‘linked devices’ features to spy on encrypted conversations,” and noted that Google identified Russian hacking groups “targeting Signal Messenger to spy on persons of interest.”

Hey @pixelfed,

Are the API endpoints used in the official #Pixelfed app documented somewhere or we missed something?

We try our best to provide good Pixelfed support in #Fedilab. It would be easier if API information are easily accessible. That would help other third-party apps too. There are some information available in beta-preview.pixelfed.io and docs.pixelfed.org, but it seems not complete

in reply to Fedilab Apps

We're using the MastoAPI

in reply to pixelfed

Most recent and current issues we're having with Pixelfed are,
- Posting DMs doesn't work
- Login issues with 2FA enabled accounts

We are also using MastoAPI. The official Pixelfed app doesn't have these problems, so we assumed there has to be some differences.

Here are my notes on putting the brand new Gemini 2.5 Pro through its paces - I'm very impressed: it did extremely well on image recognition, audio transcription and returning accurate bounding boxes for creatures in a complex photograph, plus it rendered a pretty solid SVG of a pelican on a bicycle

New: Fediverse Report 109

This week, an essay about #Bluesky's proposal for setting user preferences on their accounts. This allows people to indicate how they want their data to be handled off-protocol. I wrote about how the #fediverse can improve on this, using its strengths of many different communities, each with its own culture and values.

Also:
- Next week is the digital conference @fediforum
- A research dataset to compare Threads and Mastodon users

Read at: fediversereport.com/fediverse-…

This entry was edited (4 months ago)
in reply to Eugen Rochko

@Gargron yeah, but that does not cover everything. Especially such more interesting cases as the mastodon threads research dataset that was just released.

Regardless, the essay is about who sets the default values, and that this decision should be delegated to server admins, and not made by software platforms such as mastodon itself

in reply to Connected Places

Mastodon asks the user after sign-up what their preference is. And of course different platforms can handle this differently, e.g. if Threads has no expectations of being able to participate without appearing in discovery feeds, they would default to true.
