Well shit. The other day I was doing what I thought would be cosmetic work on Blue Biscay's rudder. Grinding off some sloppily applied epoxy of an old repair, maybe reinforcing a bit, fairing etc before applying the coppercoat.
What I found was a big crack around the rudder post. To even diagnose the extent of the problem let alone fix it means dropping the rudder. Either digging a hole (there's a metaphor there) or lifting the boat with a crane. The crane is only here twice a year and will come in April. It was always going to be tight and a lot of intense work in the coming month, including helping to get Hale Kai ready, but this is too much.
So, another year in the yard. I hope I don't turn into that stereotype. But long term plans won't bear rushing something this important.
Very disappointing.
Crap. What's the shaft made of? That looks like it might be expansion cracking from water getting onto steel and rust forcing the fibreglass apart. Seen it on an encapsulated keel before, which was supposed to contain only lead but had some iron stampings thrown into the bottom by the builder. Small damage from a grounding turned into a big mess.
Well, grab a shovel and start digging. Don't make the mistake of asking the yard like I did - the answer was a very expensive travelift op 🙀

Even if trans women always worked in the goofy way they describe, which they do not, but even if they did who cares? Why does it matter?
This is like the whole: "Is being gay a CHOICE?"
I mean, probably not. However, even if it were, that has no bering on the questions of sin and morality at play here.

The image depicts a character standing in a snowy, mystical environment. The character is dressed in dark, elaborate armor with fur trimmings, including a long coat and a belt. They hold a large, glowing blue axe in their right hand. The character's attire and the glowing axe suggest a connection to ice or frost magic. The background features a blue-toned landscape with a crescent moon and silhouettes of trees, enhancing the mystical atmosphere. Additionally, there are ghostly figures in the background, one of which appears to be a wizard-like figure with a beard, adding to the fantasy setting. The overall color palette is dominated by blues and blacks, contributing to the cold and magical ambiance.

Take politicians out of the equation—that would be a lot better for women AND their doctors.

This could honestly be our healthcare system saviour.
We've known for twenty+ years we are creating an intentional shortage.
Ford has been trying hard to F the system so we have no choice but to go private.
This might actually give us a boost in doctors that saves our system.
It doesn't pay as well as the US, which is why we were losing so many but at some point, all the money in the world doesn't make up for living under fascism

When my mother first moved back to Spain, she fell and broke her shoulder. The ambulance took her to the nearest public hospital. They decided the best thing to do was operate quickly, because the break was threatening blood supply. I asked the surgeon how I should arrange for payment and he looked at me as if I’d insulted him.
“Madam, this is a hospital not a business. We treat absolutely everyone for free. It’s why I’m proud to work here”

in reply to Madeleine Morris • • •On a diving trip to Fiji, a friend jammed her thumb and was afraid she'd broken it. We walked up the dirt road to the crisp stucco hospital. The nurse practitioner who saw her said:
- I don't think it's broken, but you could come back tomorrow when the tech is on regular hours and we'll x-ray it.
- I'll get you some painkillers.
- I'm more worried that you were in the stream, which is agricultural runoff, and you have some scrapes, so I'd like you to take a course of antibiotics.
The nurse went and brought back the medications in little plastic bags and thanked us for coming in.
No mention of money ever. The receptionist did take our friend's name (verbally) and that she was staying at the dive resort.
Yes, the children living on Taveuni in the Quonset huts with no interior plumbing have the same access as the tourists.
Of the US to Fiji, which one's the "3rd world country"?
