Elon Musk and Trump win fight to keep DOGEโ€™s work secret
Musk and DOGE don't have to comply with discovery order, appeals court rules.

in reply to Ars Technica

More accurately, they don't have to comply with discovery order YET.

But it's very telling that Musk is trying to do all his work in secret. Meanwhile government lawyers continue to tell judges that Musk is NOT even in charge of "DOGE".

Signal has โ€œspent a lot of time thinking about how to absolutely minimize the amount of user data that they collect, and therefore the amount of user data that would be revealed in something like a data breach,โ€ EFFโ€™s @cooperq told @nbcbayarea. nbcbayarea.com/news/local/whatโ€ฆ

no way to opt out of cookies at that site? EFF do you have another link on the topic? Ironic that an article about @signalapp, promoted by EFF, doesnโ€™t give readers the choice to protect their privacy.

I despise American commentators like Scott Jennings who peddle the Trump lie that tariffs are helpful, because they force companies to move factories to the US to avoid tariffs, and then there will be no price increase.

When a factory is placed in Mexico instead of the US, that is because it is cheaper to make a car in Mexico. If the same factory is then moved to the US as Trump wants, the cars produced will become more expensive to make. This will obviously raise consumer prices.

in reply to Randahl Fink

Perhaps economists on the thread can chime in with their favourite #FreeTrade and specialisation arguments. For the rest of us, we have to dig out #AdamSmith et al.

The world tried for decades to agree on unrestricted, international trade #WTO and now it's like you have to debate the underlying principles again.

in reply to Randahl Fink

the solution is to hire Mexican for Mexican salaries when the factory is in USA, kind of what they did with agricultural workers

Did some smol hiking today.

The manmade wall is a condensation tube for, probably, lead extraction.

in reply to Rue Mohr

Usa lead miners of old were called bromans. Trust me, I saw that on internet.

As for these, they would be from the early 1800 up to 1950 (yep, THAT late), abandoned later. The lead mining was kinda barbaric, you calcinate the mineral and make the vapors go through tunnels as long as possible (hundreds of meters) so the lead itself condenses on the walls. Then use kids to rip it from the walls.

comments like this by non maga normies on this article pretty much explains why US is where it is and likes of UK and Europe will be heading the same way. These people will buy any bull crap from their politicians and media as long as it doesn't hurt their wealth, previledges and snowflakey feelings. They are just upset that a felon and his MAGA cult did that to them.

"They are definitely putting a ton of money into getting ready to kill a lot of people."

"Promoted by groups like the Federalist Society and the Heritage Foundation, this is an attempt to give the president extreme and exclusive power, eliminating any independence or accountability for the many agencies across the executive branch."

The image features a green dinosaur-like creature with a textured skin pattern, resembling a velociraptor, set against a two-tone green background. The creature is depicted in a side profile, with its head slightly tilted and its clawed hand raised to its chin, giving it a thoughtful expression. The text in the image is in bold, white capital letters, with the top text reading "IF A DWARF IS ON THE SURFACE" and the bottom text reading "DOES THAT MAKE THEM 'OUT OF THEIR DEPTH'?" The overall composition is simple, with the text and the dinosaur image being the main focal points.
