For an administration that campaigned on bringing back competence and accountability to government, they’ve instead demonstrated they can’t be trusted with either classified information or military power.

NOT OK

A. There is NO evidence that #RumeysaOzturk did any of the things #MarcoRubio said. She wrote an op-ed. That’s it.

B. Even if she had participated in #protests, what the #Trump admin did is NOT the process a #visa holder goes through. Normally you receive a notice & have a month. They arrested her on the street w/no notice, took her phone & belongings, threw her in the back of a van, & flew her to a detention center in a different state.

They may as well have black bagged her.

Got some new lace books at our lace retreat. It's increasingly important to hear from people who have had the actual books in their hands for these kinds of things now.

They are cute and small pieces in Rosaline, Duchesse, and Honiton.

I'm glad they steel-reinforced that walkway, or there would be craters to fix.

"Grants are getting killed “without any scientific input anywhere. It is purely political,” said a member of a senior leadership team at a large NIH institute. “The science in this country is going to be destroyed if you can change what the priorities are going to be every four years. You can’t do science that way.”"

the kids are constantly having to sign forms promising they haven't used chat gpt for their homework, but I don't think they need to worry about it going undetected quite yet
in reply to Ben Cohen

Sadly, this is exactly the sort of thing that can completely destroy a poor kid's confidence in their math understanding. There is someone out there right now thinking that they are bad at math because they've been previously been beaten down and so lack the self-confidence to conclude that the question is wrong, and think it must be something they're not getting.
in reply to Greg Titus

I feel like the schools are taking the wrong approach with the "academic integrity" pledges that imply LLMs are some genius way to cheat they're not allowed to touch.

What they need to do is show students how wrong the LLMs can be, and make it clear they are smarter than this supposed miracle tech.

(of course, I would also couple this with not banning calculators that can do fractions because we have had that particular tech since the 80s and it actually works and is good)

Elon Musk is pouring money into a Supreme Court election in Wisconsin.

Musk has spent more than $18 million to support Trump-backed candidate Brad Schimel over liberal Susan Crawford

and has been paying Wisconsin voters $100 to help flip the state’s top court.

This election could impact abortion rights, unions and Republicans’ ability to keep gerrymandered districts in place to control Congress.

“The level of corruption at play here, the level of money at play here, really is a warning sign for what’s happening to our democracy,”
says Ari Berman, voting rights correspondent for Mother Jonesmagazine.

Big update from the team with Susan Crawford for Supreme Court:

This is a single digit race.

A recent poll showed this race TIED.
Others have shown Susan Crawford and Brad Schimel apart in the polls by just a couple of points.

That’s not the only way this is a single digit race
– we’re down to a single-digit number of days until Election Day,
and ballots are already being cast across Wisconsin.

Don’t miss this chance to make a difference and help save our majority
– chip in right now to elect Susan Crawford:

Much of the Signal discussion is overlooking a key point: an entire apartment building was leveled to kill one guy.

How many civilians died? Is this a war crime?

The religious language—“prayer,” “God bless,” “Godspeed to our Warriors”—makes it all the more revolting, like a game of Battleship from the safety of a church basement.
