A generous member of the #AustinMesh passed out some FemtoFox nodes (Linux based with meshtasticd) to other members. github.com/femtofox

And as a bonus I received a Ikoka node as well! Same radio as the FemtoFox but is otherwise a minimalist low power node that includes a QWIIC connector for expansion.

It’s been an afternoon of fun exploring these new (to me) nodes. After meeting my “dealer” in a parking lot to pick up a baggy. 🤣

This relates directly to my explanation for why openbsd is "slow". Somebody does something dramatically stupid in a hot loop, but it happens to be optimized to hell and back on their platform, so they don't notice. Users will never blame the app ("works for me"), only the platform/os/etc.

Does anybody say tiktok is poorly coded? No, they say firefox is slow.

I don't get it. Garmin seems to have created a completely new service (but with the old data, which they had anyway). They didn't take away anything. So why revolt _now_?

When I want to know where a website is located and who is hosting something, I use these 2 sites. The 1st one is quick and easy, while the 2nd is a little more detailed.

1) whoishostingthis.com2) search.censys.io

in reply to MOVED to: @Linux@mastodon.au

There are more in depth methods than using a website to track down a site's true point of origin, but some of those method can be abused (and require a bit more skill). That said, using a website like the two listed (in the previous post), should fit most people's basic needs.

In an interview with NBC News, #Trump said repeatedly that he “couldn’t care less,” if auto manufacturers raise prices due to his tariffs.

He also said that he hopes they raise prices.

The president says he believes that will just lead consumers to buy American made cars.

Sweet granny on toasted bread, the man really doesn't understand world-wide integrated supply chains does he?

His thinking dates from the post-WWII period, and even then the USA wasn't an island.

This is what happens when we elect delusional fuckwits with simpleton-level understandings to run things.

@gedvondur a friend who is a professional geologist in a govt department had this actual conversation with a political appointee

“Why is all the coal still here?”
“What? What do you mean?”
“Well, the coal is supposedly 300M years old. And the half life of carbon is 6000 years. Shouldn’t it all be gone by now?”
“I can’t teach isotopes to a had-one-chemistry-class-in-high-school graduate.”

A Dallas man says reality show “The First 48” edited the episode to suggest he’d become a police informant, resulting in death threats.

In 2015, he was shot several times at a barber shop in an attack police say was connected to his appearance on the show.

These ants are almost cryptic. They live very very deep underground, forage during cold months when other ants are not seen, and they can't tolerate much heat at all. Very hard to keep as pets since they like about 55F and not more than 80F ever.

I still love them.

I tried to keep a queen last year, she laid eggs but they never hatched. Maybe she wasn't well. It didn't work out. But when I went to the ant forums for advice everyone said they were HARD to raise.

Le boycott: French customers shun McDonald’s, Coca Cola and Tesla to protest against Trump... theguardian.com/world/2025/mar…

"A poll, which splashed the front page of the Libération newspaper last week, found that more than six out of 10 French people support shunning American products, and almost one in three are already avoiding them.

"The #BoycottUSA hashtag has spread across social media networks in what researchers say is a “historic collapse” of the US’s image in France."
