Unsurprisingly, it keeps getting worse

#MikeWaltz & staff used #Gmail for government communications

#Trump’s #NationalSecurity adviser is trying to manage his way out of a crisis. But new revelations about his team’s operational security are piling up.

Members of #Trump’s #NationalSecurity Council #NSC, including WH #NationalSecurity adviser #MikeWaltz, have conducted govt business over personal #Gmail accounts, acc/to documents reviewed by WaPo & interviews with three #US officials.

in reply to Nonilex

The use of #Gmail, a FAR LESS secure method of communication than the encrypted messaging app #Signal [which isn’t secure enough for these kinds of comms either], is the latest example of questionable #security practices by top #NationalSecurity ofcls already under fire for the mistaken inclusion of a journalist in a group chat about high-level planning for #military ops in Yemen.

This is a great write up and elegant solution for a static Pages repo by @mttaggart

We know we need two repositories. Instead of relying of YAML-driven DevOps stuff, why not use something a bit more elemental: Git submodules.
If we make our site repo a submodule of the source module, we can make our lives much, much easier.

I migrated my coding life, including my static websites, off GitHub. It's easier than you might think! Here's how I did it.

I love this idea, especially since I've wanted to keep tabs on any and all changes to generated files anyway
in reply to Chris "🐓||🥚problem"

A commenter mentioned that you can also use a branch of the same repo called pages as a submodule, and it works. Which hurts my head a little, but you can try that too!

The SSC would have been completed already had they accepted the bid to build it Colorado (perfect type of rock, among other advantages) instead of Texas (electronics-eating ants, among other bullshit). Still pisses me off.

I have a T-shirt from the Texas one. I've actually had a couple of folks know what it was!

So it’s okay to rip off a creator’s style (how ‘fun’!) but you need to protect your own images?

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: No one owns the law. eff.org/deeplinks/2025/03/eff-…
in reply to Electronic Frontier Foundation

Trump is. None of the people with the power to stop him did. Not the FBI, not the DoJ, not the Biden administration, not the military and not the courts. Not one oath-taker sees fit to act. Good luck. Maybe you'll cause the dictator to spend an afternoon in court, sleeping, sneering, and passing gas.

And Musk most certainly is. "Our" court system just gave a Nazi a $500 million building. God damn this political system to hell.

People are going to have to take the law into their own hands if the law continues to sit on its.

We know that going to space decreases bone and muscle mass, but now researchers have discovered exactly which bones suffer the most damage. They sent a group of mice to space for 37 days and then examined their bones. The researchers found that there were bone degenerative effects in the femur, but not in the vertebrae, and concluded that it's our weight-bearing bones that suffer the most damage during weightlessness.

in reply to Fraser Cain

The bigger the bone, the more likely to be hit by a Cosmic Ray. Best to not stay in space more than 6 months. This is on top of the lack of gravity.

You are designed to live on Terra Firma where there is a magnetic field that deflects Cosmic Rays.

in reply to Marcus Hutchins

While at Dragos DISC, there was a guy who didn't want to name drop - then proceeded to B52 names... Talking about how they need to go offensive - and - I was in disbelief of all the conferences to spout off about that. ICS security is all defense all day. Other opinions included how they need to regulate cyberdefenses for health care.
Cut to Rob Lee's Keynote - "We need to step up because if regulations force us - I guarantee they will be stupid and ineffective" (paraphrased)

Good to see your post on it.
