Taking company vehicles for a joyride without permission from the boss has often been a firing offense.

Flying around with the captain's ship was definitely a step too far.

Habe mal wieder ein neues Nerd-Projekt: Ein eigener Stratum 1 NTP-Zeitserver. Warum?

Based on my recent experience reentering the U.S. from Canada (across the Peace Bridge), I completely believe this. I’m a U.S. citizen but the hostility was palpable and inescapable. The border guards made it very clear that my brief sojourn into Canada was highly suspect if not downright treasonous.

There aren't many ways I can resist the unspeakable evil that now pervades the U.S. federal government, but this is one.

Donald Trump' s tariffs have persuaded me to make larger purchases on the other side of the border. Both because these tariffs amount to a tax that supports this unspeakable evil and to bullying meant to compel Canada to surrender its sovereignty.

One thing I'm consistent about is my quite longstanding opposition to imperialism, whether of the U.S. or other varieties.

He gave me one of my first, truly safe jobs and opportunities as a PA for a project he was working on years ago. He made it a point to say “I want to see more Black women in this industry…” and then proved it with his actions. I got to hug him last year after not seeing him for sometime. We spoke via iPad. He was incredibly proud of me. This is all that matters. Honored to know this man. I am truly glad he is free.

@intransitivelie so this is an example of what I'd consider a cute prank?

They probably sent an email out to their user list that said "issues with 600 MHz instrument" this sort of thing happens all of the time and that school has multiple instruments so at most it elicits a response of "oh, I should read the email before I book instrument time today". And the link goes to something that is immediatly apparent as joke for anyone familiar with the instruments. And they did a bunch of cheesy photo shop to really run the joke into the ground and write a whole narrative about it while using terms that get tossed around about major NMR disasters.

Hell yeah! I have no way to judge the quality of Carrie's yarn stuff (I had no idea swift is the actual name of the tool and not just a name she gave it), but if it's anything like her electronics stuff, I would say it's excellent.
in reply to Kevin Santo Cappuccio

thanks both of you! Yarn and electronics definitely overlap always, but I think my yarn stuff is more novel within that industry. And yeah, swifts are nothing new, and even the umbrella design has been around a good long while, but I think I’ve made some solid improvements over the classic wood designs. I like making things that are fun to use.

I feel like “I didn’t know” is only an excuse up to a point, and we hit that point years ago. Intent doesn’t matter so much as material impact, and anyone who voted for him (or provides their approval and support now) has had plenty of time before now to understand what was actually going to happen under him, I’d think?
in reply to Serenus

@Serenus
Absolutely, anyone who voted for him is done as far as I'm concerned. I was thinking more of the people who didn't vote for him but think he's doing okay with regard to immigration. They might plead ignorance, but as you say, at this point, even if it's true, it's no excuse.
