THAT made me remember Roger Waters' poster, to which my reaction was "duh, silly, that is an electric guitar!"

If the poster over the hole in the wall, that leads to my escape tunnel, is tense enough, I might be able to use the picture to make a hole in the poster.
But I guess Magritte did not consider Shawshank.

It’s only a rynour (spread by the military), but

President Trump’s plans to hold a military parade in Washington on his 79th birthday this Saturday are in doubt as officials consider cancelling the event due to a thunderstorm warning.

The man is frit of thunderstorms and the inevitable protests.

When some anglerfishes mate, the male and female merge into a single entity, sharing their bodies for the rest of their lives. In the immense expanse of the deep sea, encounters between organisms are exceptionally rare. So if a male finds a female, he bites down and permanently fuses with her body.

the harmonies are exquisite. As a kid, growing up on a steady diet of my parents’ Four Freshman records, I felt that the Beach Boys had a similar sound. Years later, I heard Brian Wilson call the FF an influence. I am sorry that such a clever and influential musician himself suffered as he did throughout his life.

I fully support Wayland, but after watching this video @BrodieOnLinux@mstdn.social even I hope the new XLibre Xserver project sees some success.

Well, that is unfortunate.

I am noticing a growing trend in our world -- The people who are talented and even gifted, choose to be assholes.

I am going to have to agree with @BrodieOnLinux@mstdn.social regarding on how sometimes things work in the world of FOSS.

I am not fan of x11 / Xorg. But a big part of the reason I am not a fan is that the development was going nowhere. It is still going nowhere, and the developers of that project seem passive, if not active, in seeing it die off. They have been for years!

Then you have this 1 guy, who seem like he is doing most of the work for a year or more, and I'm not going to say their work was perfect, but they were doing something instead of nothing. They're not the 1st person who has tried to do something with that project, only to be kicked down and discouraged, either.

The reason the development of Xorg is not active is because the Xorg developers are also the Wayland developers. They are all busy working on Wayland, Xorg is abandoned and will stay abandoned. For some people this is apparently hard to deal with.
in reply to Desikner

As I understood it, they were not always the same developers.

I, myself, have no fight in this. I'm already on Wayland, and have been for now 1/2 a decade. But if Xorg is abandon, as you claim, they should archive the project and just call it a day, already.

The U.S. just made “AI literacy” a national priority, but what does that mean?

1 in 3 people overestimate their ability to use and detect AI tools. Education policy researchers say teaching true literacy isn’t just a technical skill, it’s about ethical and social issues.

Footage from the Mariana Trench. 10,792 meters (36,000 feet) below the ocean surface.

Humans and other surface dwellers experience pressure underwater due to the air in their bodies being compressed

Deep sea critters do not have much in the way of air inside them, so their internal and external pressure do not have much, or any differential.

So they don't experience any compressive forces, as opposed to a submarine for example pressurized to one atmosphere inside finding it in a body of water under thousands of atmospheres of pressure

Dating platforms both reflect and reinforce racial stereotypes and biases common in American culture.

When seeking a romantic partner, people gravitate toward others who are similar and familiar to them – not people whom they have been taught to see as fundamentally different from their family, friends and neighbors.

And part of that is the lasting legacy of laws designed to keep races segregated.

Bigfin Squid: NEW footage (magnapinna squid)

The arms and tentacles of the squid are both extremely long, estimated at 4 to 8 m (13 to 26 ft). These appendages are held perpendicular to the body, creating "elbows". How the squid feeds is yet to be discovered.

Still unclear how big the strikes were and the damage but this is major.

It's not a coincidence that this is happening just as Netanyahu's coalition was on the verge of collapse. He would risk tens of thousands of Israeli deaths and a regional war to ensure his political survival.

CBS News's #Flipboard account is posting flips on the Fediverse that is 1993 days old.

Are they flipping old posts now as new posts? That Flipboard account alone has 364.4k flips...

in reply to Paul Chambers🚧

@SnowshadowII @greg it appears to be an issue just with CBS. We’ve contacted them and they should fix soon.
in reply to Mike McCue

@mike Awesome. I know CBS #Flipboard was pushing out some old Iran and Ukraine news articles that people were misreading the article date in the preview card.

Thanks for the quick action.
