A senior sergeant in the Ukrainian Marine Corps and defender of Azovstal, Dianov was released on 21 Sept 2022, in an exchange that brought home 215 Mariupol defenders.
During his time in captivity, he was tortured and lost 4 centimeters of bone in his arm. He survived — but not unchanged. After undergoing surgery and a lengthy recovery abroad, he returned and supports fellow veterans.
