Do you work in a factory or have you ever worked in a factory? What about your parents?
By working in a factory I mean line work or cleaning, not management. And by factory I mean an operation manufacturing large runs of product, more than could be used in your home town.
For you, your parents and grand parents working in a factory only check the box if it was one of the main jobs they had for a significant time. Eg. not a "summer job."
Check all that apply.

“We are here for a prescribed and brief amount of time, a blip, longer for some than others. We are here to create, to love, to learn, to grow, to share our gifts, and, very importantly, to experience joy. It’s not about getting to point B but “the journey,” they say—and it sounds like a lie. But it is truer than we realize. What is point B anyway but number two in a long list of even more things?

My dad was a chemist too, he worked a night shift in the steel mill to pay for college.
But the mill also helped him get some lab experience since part time he got to work in their lab ... where he discovered he didn't want to be a metallurgist which was his initial idea. He stuck with college longer to get a more serious degree because "metallurgy is boring" ? He's never really explained this I ought to ask him about it more.

Paternal grandfather learned to be a shoemaker in Sweden. When he came to the US he had difficulty finding work that wasn't mass production; he wanted to work as he'd learned, making a pair of shoes beginning to end. Eventually he found Spalding and made baseball shoes.

The closest I’ve gotten was working on the donation processing line at a big thrift store, which involves a conveyor belt and at this particular store was pretty dehumanizing, but I don’t think it counts.

His dad worked in a paint factory.
So we definitely come from factory workers. Obviously, I am far above that sort of thing*.
*My mindset is working class, I am proud of this background. Despite the fact that currently I am very much in the middle classes.
