In 2020 around a quarter of streamed songs were older music (i.e. not contmcpriary releases), now five years later that has grown to a half.
Sony Music certainly thinks 'catalogue' is the future having spent over $2.5bn on artists back catalogue copyrights (such as Queen & Pink Floyd) to buttress copyright earnings.
Or is this just the prejudice of a 65 year old music lover?

Arthropod Antics' videos just keep getting better. The close ups of leaf-cutters in the AZ desert in this one are captivating. He discusses how the ranges of ants may be shifting with the hotter climate trends and recent droughts.
But mostly it's just high-quality close up action of ants working... including examples of de-alate queens helping with foraging which is new to me ... and related to that bigger question of how ants decide what job to do!

in reply to David Phd • • •I've recently been watching youtube videos of Gen-Zers listening (reacting) to 'classic' albums such as Dark Side of the Moon' and others by Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Queen, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Beach Boys etc, (even 70s/80s punk), and most times they display incredulity at the variety, the creativity, the song-writing and sheer inventiveness so often lacking today.
And most of these albums were recorded on 2 or 4 track tape... no digital technology/editing.
