If you are actually going to I wouldn't talk about it either. Direct assault wouldn't be the way to go either.
Don't forget: military has dogs. We don't even know how many. They'll be undefeatable in terms of hacking. Hard to destroy physically. And can splatter you all over the place and not give a FUCK.
This is just the first step. Get the public used to the idea of the military being there to "support" the police. Bring the dogs in little by little. If SHTF dogs now.

Israel has attacked Gaza, Lebanon, Syria — and now, Iran. It’s igniting conflict across the Middle East, killing over 14,000 children in Gaza, and dragging the world toward catastrophe.
Our governments are fueling this with weapons and silence. It’s time to cut Israel off.

We now have a political assassin impersonating a police officer on the loose in Minnesota, which, aside from being horrifying in and of itself, underscores the danger of the proliferation of anonymous federal law enforcement deployments from a wide variety of unfamiliar agencies conducting aggressive immigration operations across the country.
Is that uniformed person who's stopping you or demanding entry to your home legit or a psychotic vigilante seeking to harm you? It's impossible to know.

@billd This is a bad look Matt. I've definitely fallen prey to unthinkingly using the same kind of language, and this made me rethink the kinds of words I use.
I suspect you might block me and that's your right, but that doesn't change the fact that this kind of language can be harmful.
Someone in my family, now recovered, lost 2 years to this illness and its long recovery period. People experiencing psychosis get abused and killed by police all the damn time—either while being arrested, or later in a holding cell.
When I see this slur against mental illness, I push back. Because the misconception kills people.
It’s more likely that this killer is an actual police officer than a person with a psychotic illness.
Also, psychosis would minimize his responsibility for doing something that a non-psychotic person should know is wrong.
@Nonya_Bidniss Could be. But clearly not operating in an official capacity.
The far-right loons have been fetishizing and accumulating “tactical” gear for a while now, so it’s really a coin flip at this point.
Matt Blaze reshared this.
In Nova Scotia Canada, a man, a dentist, collected RCMP gear and a RCMP car and went on our country's worst mass shooting.
Matt's right is a coin flip currently. My personal suspicion is that it is an actual cop, but need to wait a bit
A surprising chunk of this chase happened in my neighborhood and I have no idea where he got those lights. They looked legitimate.
There must be Temo for cop LARPers or something.
I agree about the gravity of this proliferation of anonymous law enforcement deployments.

Assessing cops as threats is not the same as taking rash action and “getting yourself killed”; in fact, that lens (cop=threat) has been an essential survival tool for non-white folk in this country for ages.
Also, Matt, I fundamentally agree with your OP and don’t wish to bicker needlessly!

With Law enforcement lying for confession and for entry into private domiciles, presenting administrative warrants as judicial warrants, detaining people illegally, using the military to handle overflow, not identifying themselves, performing illegal searches, hiding from cameras, etc.
This was bound to happen. It is their own fault. Citizens do not know if anyone has authority to do anything.
Playing in the gray area has endangered everyone, including law enforcement themselves.
I would argue that this also reinforces the ubiquity of the problems caused when people automatically believe that cops == friends. A very great chunk of the US and Canada have been functionally brainwashed into believing this, intrinsically if not intellectually, and in turn we see not only ostensible impersonations like this, but untold abuses by uniformed cops wielding both the social and the institutional power they've been given.
If the person is, as many of us suspect, an actual cop, will that change things? Will that contribute further to a justifiable distrust of what they so risibly claim is law enforcement? Or will it be handwaved away as another bad apple, neglecting to mention the rest of the parable?
Hold on to one another, we need one another. Love, people, and hang in there. We must keep trying to boot those bastards out. They have so much that they dominate world, news, banks, but we have our hearts to keep the faith and flame. We have, we must.

@redoak I didn’t say or imply that all or most mentally ill people are dangerous. But somone trying to harm strangers while dressed up as a cop may quite well be mentally ill, behaving irrationally.
One wonders what scolding people for using ordinary language in good faith is trying to achieve.

Any questions they have can be answered while the resident is nowhere near the door.
If they don't show their badge, call 911 to report a prowler.
@redoak @RiaResists "Hi there total stranger. I don't know you, but let me interpret your common use of words in the most adversarial way possible, in a way that lets me impute lack of empathy and poor character on your part. Then I'll congratulate myself for how sensitive to the needs of others I am!"
Fuck off.
@RiaResists
my complaint is not about whether we can know if the shooter is mentally ill. i actually don't think that question is relevant to much except for how to handle them if caught and found guilty.
On the other hand, if we're trying to discuss how this relates to What's Going On and What To Do About It, being clear about what matters is crucial.
and beyond that, considering that speech is an act within and upon the world, it's important to be mindful of the impacts.
Legit uniform or not, it's always dangerous.
Matt Blaze reshared this.
It’s like getting lectured as being g anti-feminist for calling trump & his cult pussies.
I mean if they don't have a valid judicial warrant, then they're an invader trying to illegally enter your home.. The badge is kind of irrelevant.
Like, slide that shit under the door, officer. Please and thank you.
did they identify a suspect? The person had a blacked out SUV with lights…. Not impossible for a private citizen, but not common.
I’m not certain it’s reasonable to assume it wasn’t law enforcement, overstepping bounds as they’re prone to do. It wouldn’t be the first time a cop acted badly, or violated the law for stupid and selfish reasons.
Who’s to say he’s impersonating? What‘s the difference?
Today, that guy is a distinction without a difference.
No, not at all. I simply feel that if officers and government agents will not identify themselves then there’s a problem and no real difference between imposters.
Frankly, how do you tell the difference? If you don’t know if the guys running around in uniforms are really officers how do you tell the difference?

This is something I have feared since there were unidentified people going around in unmarked vans abducting people in Portland in 2020. They said they were legit LEOs, & the abductions happened near BLM protests; but how was anyone to know who the hell they were?
(AFAIK all these people were taken to to some LEO-affiliated building, processed in some way, and eventually released)
What I don't understand is why there weren't then, and haven't yet been now, more criminals putting on their black nylon "tactical" gear from Walmart & going around robbing & kidnapping people. That we know of, anyway.
Maybe it's because, if you really want to do that sort of shit, all you have to do id join a gang. Or the Proud Boys. Or the police force.
