A few simple things you can and probably should do re: phone if you can't bring a burner
(esp the first 3):

1. disable location services/sharing

2. disable biometrics/facial/fingerprint ID (can be used by police to open your phone if detained) and use a code which is more secure
use airplane mode when not communicating

3.use Signal for messaging (encryption)

4. back up your phone before protest

5. enable remote wipe/

When landing on the Moon, the astronauts watched an instrument called the FDAI that showed the spacecraft's orientation. The ball inside the Flight Director/Attitude Indicator rotated in three axes as the Lunar Module rotated. Let's look inside and see how it works. 1/N
The FDAI is an octagonal instrument with a rotating ball in the center. The ball is half black and half white, with numbers and lines on it to indicate angles. Three yellow needles direct the astronauts with the desired motion. Three arrow scales on the sides show the spacecraft's roll rate in the three axes. An orange flag labeled "OFF" is visible. The cover has been removed from the FDAI so some of the internal components are visible.

Removing the hollow hemispheres from the ball shows the complicated mechanism inside the ball, including the pitch and yaw motors. The pitch motor causes the entire mechanism to rotate, while the yaw motor spins the hemispheres.
The inside of the ball assembly is complicated. There's a cube-shaped frame that holds the pitch motor, yaw motor, control transformers, and a bunch of gears. A curved "equator" is attached to the middle of the cube; this forms the center line of the ball when the hemispheres are attached. Red arrows label the motors, gears, and other components.
