I'm so old, prank calls were still a thing when I was a kid. Now it's just robo-spam.

@MelissaBearTrix Before the Internet shitposts were called prank calls, and they became dangerous once *69 attacked.

In seventh grade, I did a project with Bill, who I didn't really know and didn't associate with. I did end up with his phone number.

In eleventh grade, my friend and I sat up all night with the phone book and left messages at every obnoxious company we could find to call him back the next day. Two were really piece de resistance of pranks--I ordered a well drilled in his back yard, and called an undertaker to remove his dead grandma.

Yes, and even when we were under age - oh my!
Also, when my relatives drove home after visiting from out of town, they would call person to person and ask for themselves to let us know they were home safe. If you said the person was not there, there was no connection and it was a free long distance call.

If my BS degree was gonna turn out to be useless anyway, I should have done paleobotany... coulda been like the Alan Grant of ferns.

iPadOS 26 no longer crossfades switching between full-screen apps. Instead, it zooms. I’ve sent feedback, but, y’know, this was the original vestibular accessibility sin, way back in *iOS 7*. Does no one test these things?

(That one was rhetorical.)

in reply to Craig Grannell

ugh. Are we long enough past 2014 that people have forgotten and are making the same mistakes over?
in reply to Chris White

@stoneymonster I think with vestibular accessibility, it’s just not a priority for Apple. Every major update breaks some things and I have to politely ask Apple to fix them again.

On the other stuff (transparent glass UI!), definitely.
