Before I ever played women's sports, I'd have agreed. But after twenty years of playing pretty much exclusively with women, while refereeing games from either side of the game, they are not playing the same game, at least in football.
There are so many reasons for this, but start with: the least technically able woman is better than the average technical ability of a man who plays. Because many girls start out playing on travel teams playing with boys, they have to be better, MUCH better, technically, before they'll get playing time. So from a young age, girls drill hard in practice, while boys goof with their friends and show off (outside of a few nerds like me, who practiced a lot because that's how you get good at things). And when they grow up, you can see the difference.
Any woman on a pro football team, no matter her position, will be technically gifted. From the goalkeepers out. She had to be to get there. (see also: the excellence of Black women players

And this holds true across a great number of sports. I would really mourn the loss of the women's game in football, whereas the men's game...eh, it's only somewhat interesting anymore.
So abolishing gendered play would be a net loss, I think. There's also the very different culture of women's sport. At all levels at which I played, there is a camaraderie that I never experienced in the men's game. Between teammates, and even with opponents. Watch high level games, and see how often after a foul the women players check to see how the fouled player is doing before they even protest that they didn't do anything.
It's just different. For me, it's what sports should be about. I would very much mourn the loss of women's sport.
Note I'm not saying it's perfect, or everyone's all sweetness and roses. They're people. They have variety. But the culture...that's reliable and pretty pervasive.

There are other sports that lower center of gravity, agility, height, lighter weight, etc give more advantage.
So it would be a reasonable first step to work to develop sports that neither gender by default has a specific advantage or disadvantage. Or that have different positions in the team sport that would be more naturally advantageous for women or men.
Rather than having our sports be things that were designed for men, oh, but women can play too, in their own segregated and less important league, make sports that everyone can play and rely on talent and skill, not on the amount of muscle mass you have.

It's in many ways just a different game.

Which if a guy is actually good enough to beat top tier in the division women athletes, they're not going to want to give up that much of their time on a troll. The joke of trying to beat women is going to get super old once they discover - oh, now when they lose, they're losing to girls. And turns out, women athletes are good enough a mediocre man would probably lose quite often, even with the advantages T gives.
Trans women not on HRT? Some may win, most will lose. Same as anyone who competes in sports. But isn't that kinda the whole point of sports? Rise to the level that you're better than your competitors, whomever they are?
