Nunhead Cemetery, South London, is one of the Magnificent Seven Victorian cemeteries established to ease pressure on London's overcrowded churchyards. The cemetery, on a hill, is aligned with St Paul's Cathedral and North London's Highgate Cemetery, another of the Magnificent Seven. Highgate can be seen from Nunhead on a clear day. Only the shell of Nunhead's gothic Anglican chapel is left as it was gutted by fire.
