Woman Captures Moment 'Exceptionally Rare' Phenomenon Shoots Through Sky twp.ai/E6AQi1

Red Wolf, I’m a fan of your silly big ears. I’ve been tracking one via Fahlo recently. She’s evidently had 14 pups, that’s wild!
These guys are a critically endangered species that is native to North Carolina, which is where I live now. They used to be everywhere from New York to Texas but hunting was so bad that they were declared extinct in 1980. They’re the only wolf exclusive to the United States. Thanks to humans’ help they’ve been growing in population again! As of last year there were 293 Red Wolves in human care across the States and 17 in the wild in North Carolina. They’re very good boys and girls. I’d love to go see them someday. 🐺

I wrote about frictionlessness and "AI". The essay is admittedly a bit of a weird ride trying to connect a few very distinct thoughts. I hope it's still worth reading.

This is a great read, and articulates and relates some thoughts that have been flittering around in my head lately. Thanks!
Some of the core ideas from early Critical/Situationist Theory feel relevant to the current tech/capitalist context in interesting ways. Should we be designing software and networks that thoughtfully and deliberately build social frictions in? It seems like this is what a lot of the new "indie web" is doing implicitly.

This post inevitably reminded me of the book "Friction: ethics in times of dataism" by @mirias
A very touching exploration of this topic, albeit only in Dutch.

Keep on writing and thinking like this, it's very worthwhile.

Cabaret Condemns and Shows Fascism’s Sinister Allure

Cabaret’s depiction of a Weimar-era nightclub reveals how easy it is to slip between satire of, indifference to, and complicity with Nazi aesthetics.

Not sure if the author has only ever seen the film, but in the musical not every song is diegetic. For instance What Would You Do, Maybe This Time, and others aren't diegetic in the script or in any staging I've ever seen. Fosse intentionally chose to remove songs from the film that were NOT diegetic as a directorial choice.

Every song does serve a purpose, which…well, i hope is the case for every song in every musical.

Hmm, this seems like a lot of caveats and hoops to jump through for accessing "free" content:

Not exactly surprising coming from #Getty, who (along with #Alamy) allowed other contributors to sell licenses to public domain photos I had taken and uploaded to #WIkimediaCommons, without noting that these photos were available for free.

There is no clear scientific evidence that increased outdoor lighting deters crimes. It may make us feel safer, but it has not been shown to make us safer.

Holocaust denial is not just a lie. It is a tool of ideological hatred, spread today primarily through social media. Its aim is the systematic erasure of the truth about the greatest crime in the history of Europe. Thanks to the new “Stop Denial” tool, everyone can now easily take meaningful action to defend historical truth and the dignity of the victims of Auschwitz.

please acknowledge the genocide in Gaza. By every measure what Israel is doing to wipe out homes, deny food and medical care causing the death of tens of thousands of innocents including children is genocide. Never again, including the 21st century.
