Think this was my first exposure to Rayman. Odd little game - looking at these screenshots, it's closer to the original than I realised. (But also used music from Rayman 2, which is extra weird)

@lunarloony
It's really impressive how they were able to shrink down a 32-bit game to the 8-bit handhelds with such a small screen.

That's why those fighting game conversions to the Game Boy and Game Gear are so fascinating to me as well till this day.
Sure, they might not play nearly as well as the version on much more powerful systems, but just getting it to run and look quite close to it is something that draws me to them.

I played Rayman first on the PSone when it released. Got it about a month after the system came out.
Still remember people over here not caring about 2D games on the system at all, while I couldn't get enough of them.
Rayman, Bust-A-Move, Raiden Project, Namco Museum, In the Hunt, William's Arcades Greatest Hits Vol.1, Xevious collection, etc.

Then I discovered that the Saturn did it even better and has so much more of them, so alongside all the arcade ports, it's no wonder I was drawn to the system.

Started reading a book yesterday and it was so good I spent a full 5 hours on it. Woke up to a kind of horrible dread that I’d almost accidentally finished it and there would be no more book left soon. But I’m only 50% of the way through. It is a very good book.

I have now finished this book and would like to double down on my assessment: it’s absolutely incredible. I wept.

it's soooo good. The other 2 books in the series are as well (hint hint)

one of my favourite book series. I read project hail Mary after this, and was struck by how differently the books treated communication difficulties.
The second book in the series is just as good.

omg, am reading this very book, am at the very same point and did the very same thing!

Ah, the westernization of Toriyama artwork holds a special place in my heart. I knew of these games back then, but they looked so bargain-binny I did not pay them any attention.

The strange thing is that as far as I'm aware, and I may be mistaken, but this was the first Dragon Quest game to be released in Europe.
