I LOVED stitching up this LaVisch design shawl 🤩 wonderfully written and beautiful result. This is for my sweet sweet neighbour: we're moving next week and i want to thank her for cat sitting for the past four(!) years ❤️❤️❤️

in reply to Kris

Your neighbor will cherish that beautiful shawl forever! All the @LaVisch designs are great, and her patterns are exceptionally well written. I made this one last year. The Psychedelica Shawl.

WRT the Ruby takeover, I've seen several posts calling for Ruby to learn from Python about how to structure governance to prevent fascist takeover of infrastructure. Which, yes, I agree.

But also, I would encourage the Python side to not get complacent. A fascist takeover is a thousand percent still possible, it just looks different, like the slow adoption and validation of AI.

in reply to Wulfy

@n_dimension AI is actual fascism. It's rooted in explicitly eugenicist philosophy, funded by and funds fascists, is used to weaken labor interests, and to proliferate disinformation.

I feel perfectly confident saying that at a philosophical and structural level, AI is fascism, *precisely* because words mean things.

in reply to Cassandra is only carbon now

I'd like to learn more about your foundational knowledge, esp. the eugenics and disinformation aspects.

Can you point me towards some texts/papers? It's a hard take I've not experienced so far.

Also, disambiguation from capitalism and labor?
Unless capitalism is fascism too.

in reply to Peter Kraus

I'm finding it very very hard to give attention to folks like her who are still talking about "AI con" and how there is no use case for AI...

... When my lived experience is that AI is super effective in my workflows.

There is plenty to criticise AI for...
... But in my lived experience the thing work... And works well.

Edit: I do sincerely thank you for the recommendation, I am familiar with her work. I am very open to antagonists viewpoints. And I sincerely hope it's get better because now very often it's somewhat naive.

Peter Shamshiri said something on the most recent IBCK that perfectly captures an intense frustration I have had with reactionary centrist / shitlib discourse:

Talking about right-wing hypocrisy is fundamentally misunderstanding what is happening. If a mugger asks you for the time, then steals your watch when you raise your wrist, saying "well I guess they weren't *really* interested in the time after all!" does not rebuke the mugger, it just shows you don't quite understand what just happened.

Russia's high-touted summer offensives failed thanks to Ukraine's fierce defense, but the criminals are still pushing on. Front lines are turned into killing zones where movement spells death. To operate in these hellish conditions, the defenders urgently need ground stations to operate drones from safe distances—striking enemies while staying alive to defend their homeland.
