What’s happened so far? From the start, we’ve reiterated to management, over and over, our top priorities for the new contract: a four-day, 32-hour work week (4DWW) as the norm, and a minimum salary for our lowest paid coworkers.
Most importantly, wrote many iterations of contract proposals that provides leadership with flexible decision-making in times of need
Despite those efforts, management is not willing to set the 4DWW as our working hours norm. If and when they expand our hours, they are not willing to provide us compensation for our additional labor. They are moving on wages, but have not yet met our demand for a livable salary minimum.
So where are we now? We are preparing the unit to go on strike if we need to, but we are holding out hope that we can come to an agreement with management before that happens.
