WELL...in a surprising turn of events, I will own a brand new (paid, nothing weird) Bambulab X1 Carbon.

I won't be using it until February, but I wanted to enjoy the christmas discount (I know they have other discounts during the year, but now it was a good time to buy, rather than reaching february and discovering I have to wait until agust maybe?...)

In any case, I can't fucking believe it.

There we go.

The AMS will be fully extraible for excellent access (no chance for the whole thing to topple, with the 20+kg of concrete in it)

I only need to find a carpenter with a rable saw that can cut this plywood into my required size.

That plywood has emotional value/attachment, so I want to use it, rather than get new one. I brought it with me from my old-old job, as a gift of sorts from my boss (can I take this? - "sure thing")

It has been used as table for years and I appreciate it.

In the end, I wasn't able to find somewhere I could carry the big panel to cut, so I ended buying some half decent 15mm plywood for this, because I could get it cut in the shop.

Also bought one ikea monitor riser so I can tuck the keyboard under it when I take out the laptop. Somehow I thought I remembered those being sold already varnished, and got surprised when I found out they weren't.

Just gave everything a varnish coat so tomorrow I can install it.

Everything is a spacer if you have enough copies of it.

The first supports are glued AND screwed down (I already removed the eccess glue, no worries).
Then, attach the rails tho those (that had been previously drilled) and using the improvised spacers and double sided tape, adhere the top supports.
Drill and remove the tape, then install back in place.
Aply some glue to the top supports, fit the top then drill, countersunk and screw in place.

This shit ain't going anywhere.

As per the monitor supports, I had bough some little feet for the left one, not realizing it would then make both parts sit flush, so I added one of the screws for that bit of extra safety (so it can't be pushed sideways and off the table).

Being able to hide the keyboard and mouse inder that feels really nice, altough I would really like to cut 30mm off of that depth, and maybe some form of aesthetic trim, but I have no wood router to try the latter.

It's good enough for now, tho.

I was gonna wait for the Biqu Glacier...until I saw a "new customer" discount that turned the build plate from 25€ (23€ with a small discount until 5th of April) down to 17€...and jumped on that.

Just registered with my work email, since I am ALREADY getting aliexpress spam, no idea how).

Well, about 3 months later, I finally added the second set of shelves-laptop risers to the table.

Now I can have six green storage boxes at hand (from the 20+ odd I have) to do the small things I usually do, instead of having them "somewhere" that will probably be inconvenient.

Also, the small extra storage under the monitor will fit perfectly the laptops (work + personal, they happen to be añmost.the exact same model) AND the 3D mouse.

AND

Books/Papers on top.

♥️

@thehatfox Absolutely! I've been using the Paperlike for years now, and I prefer the matte screen for both art and glare reduction.

Recently decided I wanted even more friction for drawing, so I bought some "MJKOR Soft Paperfeel Damping Tips" and have really liked it for the past couple weeks. I also tried a silicone cover for the Pencil tip, but it reduced the precision, which ruled it out for me.

Curious to hear your experiences, if you go for it 😀
