Let's take some time to marvel at some of the fellow inhabitants of our planet!

Wave Case

Wave Case is a stylish, biodegradable phone case made from wheat straw – a unique solution to tackling the millions of plastic phone cases that are disposed of every year.

Growing up in a small seaside town in the North East of England, two friends witnessed first-hand the devastating effects plastic pollution has upon our oceans, and decided to take action by creating Wave Case.

Protecting both your phone and the planet Wave Case aim to provide eco-friendly, affordable products that have minimal impact upon the planet.

This does not look like human behavior. Again today, my Mastodon account is followed by dozens of new anonymous accounts, and they all follow exactly 40 other accounts.

@renchap I do not want to be reading tea leaves here, but can you understand my concern that this could be a bot net system generating spam profiles in bulk?

Can you think of any technical explanation why I am seeing so many similar accounts following exactly 40 other accounts?

in reply to Randahl Fink

I've read tea leaves. This is way less subjective. This is akin to throwing a handful of scrabble letters and them landing as "B.O.T.N.E.T." πŸ˜‚
in reply to Randahl Fink

There are of course many bot accounts, so that could be the explanation for these, but if you are part of a starter pack you will get many accounts following you that follows the exact same list of people.

I can’t find a starter pack at fedidevs that contains you, and as far as I know they are the largest collections of starter packs, so it’s a less likely explanation in your case.

Every time I start thinking about getting a range finder, I'll see an image like this, and I close the window.

It almost looks like they’re looking *really* closely to see there’s any more vape in their giant rig.

Speaking of sidewalk ice, here's a treacherous street corner. In March there are block-long stretches of ice like this. Once I slipped and fell on one of them. I caught myself with my hands, got up, and kept walking. Then I smelled something gross. I was sniffing at the air trying to identify it. I brought my (gloved) hands to my face and sniffed, and they smelled like shit. That frozen meltwater included a full winter's worth of uncollected dog poop from the adjacent park. I tossed the gloves
in reply to dillyd

And aside from the ice, in my town it's becoming routine to see dog poop on and near sidewalks. We have a dog and walk him constantly so we see this. What's wrong with people?

I have had abusive emails, comments, social media posts, and entire articles. Today I received my first abusive _source code comment_. 😁

A Rare Sighting of the Pelican Eel...

The pelican eel's most notable feature is its large mouth, which is much larger than its body. The mouth is loosely hinged, and can be opened wide enough to swallow a fish much larger than the eel itself. The lower jaw is hinged at the base of the head, with no body mass behind it, making the head look disproportionately large. Its jaw is so large that it is estimated to be about a quarter of the total length of the eel itself.

So, practically. If Canada were to join the EU, what steps would be required? We'd obviously need to apply, like other countries. Certainly greater presence in Brussels.

Would we need to adopt the Euro? I'd think so, but not sure if that is a good idea.

We'd have to upgrade a lot of our standards

It is called Enlargement. Seems appropriate for the era we are in.

My jointer restoration project, still sitting at the old place. Paused for now, but not forgotten. Was in the middle of this when we finally found the right homestead.

Need to make space for it here first. Preferably with a foundation, so I don't have to move it again.

And then find about six strong elephants to help me load it onto a trailer.

Problems for another time.

Finally! A Democrat stands up for fellow congresswoman Sarah McBride, when the Republicans deliberately choose to misgender her.

@Kletskous indeed. This exposes the Republican idea of freedom, which is not "freedom for all", but instead "my freedom to trample on your freedom".
in reply to Randahl Fink

@Kletskous Frank Wilhoit nailed it in 2018: "Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."

The current #SarlaccPit puzzle has been solved by @darth_hideout. Nicely done!

The answer was "Rebellions are built on hope" (Jyn Erso says this in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story).
