As tech advances, the law mutates. In some cases (Riley, Carpenter) we get more protections. In other cases, we get fewer protections. This case dates back to 2022. Christopher Poller was a suspect…Techdirt

On a lighter #electronics note, this is the bestest solder sucker that I have ever used and I love it dearly. About the only thing I'd change I'd make would be to make the body longer (not necessarily the piston volume) to make it a bit better-fitting for my clumsy hands.
The main upside of this one is that it is all-metal, so the button lock doesn't wear out in like 50 uses, unlike the standard variety of these.

So yesterday we ( @thatfrisiangirlish and I ) took a glorious nap and I awoke to my wife looking at me like she liked me and enjoyed my presence. Concerned I hid my face under the blankets, she just smiled more at her "Dork". Send HLEP, I think my wife likes me! What am I gonna do, it's been 6 years and she just loves me more and more!
@thatfrisiangirlish@blahaj.zone gasp it'll be six years tomorrow. It felt like nothing. Well it felt like a lot of love, affection, and cuddles. Your really think it'll be 25 years?!
Jokes aside I was watching The Bear last night. Really quite good if you are interested in how Gastro actually is. But the Exec chef said to his new girlfriend that he was nervous.
"Why, because you're waiting for the other shoe to drop"
nods
"You want to know a secret, nobody is counting any shoes"
Tally is like that. I keep expecting the other shoe to drop because I was raised and grew up in and was divorced from transactinal affection. She just gives it free of charge.

In the words of the almighty Donna: Treat yo'self!
Hope all goes well and you can get some rest when you're done.
I am now craving an iced coffee. 😅
@VulpineDruid Thank you for the sweet message! You're the best, I swear. Dunks (as we New Englanders call it) is always my go-to on infusion days. Kinda gives me the will to get through my treatments. It's like a treat to get me up in the morning. LOL.
(Also sorry for making you crave iced coffee earlier. Oopsies.)
My impact driver has given up the ghost, so I need a new one. Tools seem to be one of the few areas that is dominated by American brands: Black and Decker, DeWalt and Stanley, plus Milwaukee (sort of).
Things being as they are I'm looking at Bosch, Makita and Ryobi.
#DIY
@yngmar It's a minefield, and you have to decide what your ethical tolerance is - does the head office actually matter vs the parent company? At least Bosch is Bosch, German company and German owned, so there's not much to go wrong with there.

Power Tool Manufacturers and Who Really Owns Them
It may surprise you that only a handful of larger companies own your favorite power tool manufacturers. Here's who owns who...with lists!Clint DeBoer (Pro Tool Reviews)
Not had much luck with Bosch powertools. The Pro range is overpriced, the regular range not up to par, probably intentionally, to differentiate the Pro range. Plus the company image isn't pristine either: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bosch_(c…
Might as well buy the store brand in that case.
Metabo is still good and has always been, but may be hard to find in places. Don't think I've ever seen one of their battery tools in the wild. The cabled ones are solid.

Today is a shitty day. My wheelchair accessible van - which has been out of commission since October due to a leaking fuel tank (which is special equipment due to the floor being lowered) - likely will never be fixed. The companies that used to repair these special tanks have either gone out of business or have been bought out and don’t do that kind of work now.
Living in rural NH severely limits my options, but there’s still a couple things we can try. Sucks, though. #disability

When Salvador Dalí Created a Chilling Anti-Venereal Disease Poster During World War II

Indeed. I would even argue that if they want to argue that it •doesn’t• fail the “impact on potential market” test, that’s an admission that their entire product pitch is BS. Either AI can replace the humans who do this work or it can’t; you can’t have that cake and eat it too.
We have a monthly on-call cadence now. When I was hired to this squad - and the last time I negotiated my compensation with the company - there were twice as many of us, so it was more like a "every-nine-weeks" cadence.
Anyway, because it's monthly, that means it's ALWAYS my turn when someone is planning to do some dumb bullshit to the RDS nodes.
Fuckers.
