Last night, russian troops targeted a hospital in Zolochiv, Kharkiv Oblast, with a drone strike, setting it ablaze. As rescue workers fought to save lives, they struck againโ€”a deliberate attack on both the wounded and those trying to save them.

Dump Brave. The company behind it is utterly untrustworthy. Founded because the dude behind it is a homophobic asshat who got ousted from Mozilla for big donations to take away gay folks' rights. Integrated shitcoin. Original idea was to make money by not *blocking* ads but *replacing* them with ads he gets paid for. It's an utter clowncar.

ah that's why there were dozens of people recommending it on X, it felt very suspicious

@jonitoni Eves after 20 years in Australia it still seems odd to me that autumn starts in March.

I started a new video series about component basics. Today I'm going to take a look at capacitors, their identifiers and different types. Have fun!

Hi sewing pattern designers? Please, please, please, LAYER YOUR PDFs. One size per layer. I've spent a whole evening manually deleting curves so that I can project one size of this thing instead of six sizes at once.

Btw, I think I'll blog #carosweddingjumpsuit process here. After meeting @amy and @cwebber I'm inspired to find more FOSS/crafting overlap! Where are my fellow #sewists?

in reply to Christine Lemmer-Webber

My patterns are either too lazy or too complicated depending on how you look at it though.

I basically just give directions on how to draft a pattern to your measurements rather than making an actual pattern with options for different sizes. I'm too dyslexic to deal with that.

Oh right, I didn't show you how one of our #UniFi #Ubiquiti AP's "PoE" (not real one, hence the quotes) injector literally burntโ€ฆ I had to hack in a barrel jack to use a regular 24V brick.

#WritersCoffeeClub 3/14. What new themes are you currently exploring?

The theme I am currently exploring in my translations from German folklore is "animal tales". Not fables, but tales of animals that are behaving in a strange manner or which are outright supernatural.

As an example, here are some accounts of strange chicken:

The future of work looks hybrid: 43% of professional workplaces now offer hybrid arrangements, up from 20% in 2023. And those arrangements are popular with workers. .Management professors explore the trends: buff.ly/V5ID5Jy #WFH

in reply to The Conversation U.S.

I doubt this - I think it's fully remote. Hybrid doesn't increase your hiring pool (people need to live within commuting distance) and you still need to pay for expensive office space.

I think your argument is based on a false premise, which is easy to fall into because of how LLMs are presented and because, as humans, we can't help anthropomorphizing things. That is: based on how people talk about the tech 1, people assume (or are led to believe) that training an LLM is like someone studying earlier works and learning from them. It is, in fact, _utterly unlike that_.

Since these _are_ entirely different processes, it's complely reasonable that different rules apply.

I don't like the word insane but otherwise YES EXACTLY. It's like people who heard the phrase "gentle parenting" and thought it meant, "let them do whatever." You draw your boundary and HOLD IT. And instead these clowns are entertaining GOP budgets and platforming Charlie Kirk.

Well... Rhino is certainly a piece of software.

(I'm probably not moving Integrated Therm to Rhino, I just need to learn it for a job and I figured this was as good a way to learn as any)

New statement from Reps.Jeffries, Clark, and Aguilar denouncing Schumer's decision to vote for the CR.
in reply to Heidi Li Feldman

Schumer outlines the risks of a govt shutdown in his NYT op-ed (below), but seems oblivious to what kind of damage his capitulation will do to American democracy, to the Democratic congressional caucus, and to real people, who will now be fully under the thumb of two nihilists in Trump and Musk.

nytimes.com/2025/03/13/opinionโ€ฆ

in reply to Alexander Karn

Iโ€™m opposed to circular firing squads, but NYers should consider a call or email to Schumer to let him know the costs of his capitulation, both in the near term and going forward.

I have to imagine heโ€™s thinking of this as his final term in the Senate. If not, he probably should be!
