US measles cases reach 5-year high; 15 states report cases, Texas outbreak grows
Since 2000, when measles was eliminated from US, only three years had higher cases.

Laws against stripping DRM from an audiobook to listen to it privately via different software is “another example of how anti-circumvention laws interfere with consumers’ rights of ownership over the things they buy," EFF’s @mitchstoltz told @arstechnica. arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025/0…
in reply to Electronic Frontier Foundation

@mitchstoltz @arstechnica

The problem I see is that most consumers either do not know better or maybe don't care.

In case customers would boycott DRM infected stuff - we might see this issue mostly go away...

Hey, so if you don't want audio and video recordings from inside your home sent to Amazon's cloud but you do want voice control of stuff in your house then I highly recommend that you check out Home Assistant before March 28th.

we're a bit behind from where I'd like to be (if you don't plan your mental health break, your mental health will plan one for you) but I do hope to have a nicely revamped version of FreeCAD Parametric Web Viewer up in the next 2-3 weeks. we're not going for perfect but incremental improvements while I still have the money to pay for help.

ace stuff. Look forward to seeing it progress... but also take good care!

Check out this wild creation from our community member Mictronics, shared in our Discord community! He built a #meshtastic node into an old #nokia 5130, and yes, the multi-tap keyboard works. Absolute retro tech wizardry.

new custom trackpad based on iqs9150 works in the MNT Reform Next! trackpad electronics by @timonsku, and i wrote the driver for it today (which runs in the keyboard). the tracking is very precise. gestures&unintentional multi finger rejection need some tuning but we have many options to work with.
in reply to lucie lukas "minute" hartmann

there's a nice three finger slide up gesture for "expose" type window selection too in GNOME, assuming you're reporting at least three touch points.
in reply to Pete Johanson

@petejohanson nice, i still gotta experiment with reporting actual touches to the OS vs the current mouse emulation approach
in reply to lucie lukas "minute" hartmann

oh, I thought that's what was going with your two finger gesture. If you follow the PTP spec/requirements closely enough, kernel should pick things up nicely and report touch data to the upper level and the GNOME gestures will work.
in reply to lucie lukas "minute" hartmann

Hey I tried to ask you on Bluesky. What is the sustained wattage the RK3588 can run at given the Reform Next is passively cooled?

Thanks to @concretedog I stumbled upon the quite affordable Meshtastic device XIAO ESP32S3 with the Wio-SX1262 LoRa module.

Ordered two days ago, arrived and flashed today. Works fine!

I also found a NEO-6M GPS module but not the GPS antenna yet... 18650 batteries ready, 3D printer ready - I guess it will be a fun weekend if I can spare some time 😉

Meta so scared of former New Zealand diplomat's tell-all they're trying to have it banned.

And the name of that books is: Careless People: A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed, and Lost Idealism, by Sarah Wynn-Williams.

It would be unfortunate if anyone heard of or read it. For Meta.

And finally, a list of extras that you may want to consider adding to your kit (depends on where you are located, if you're far from help, or expecting to have to treat severe wounds/illnesses yourself).

Ideally, it would be a good idea to learn how to use some of these ahead of time (like for a tourniquet, epinephrine injections, sutures, dental kit etc).

A hot water bottle is not necessarily an advanced item, but some people may not require it in their kit. It's useful to treat hypothermia(so, a good idea for sailors to carry).

this was a great book that I read cover to cover for emergency purposes. String recommend for basically anyone! lostartpress.com/products/work…
in reply to R E K

The most used item from our kit was by far the tub of Sudocrem. It's a zinc oxide antiseptic cream that happens to be waterproof. For all those little scrapes, nicks and cuts you get around boats all the time. Ideal before swimming, because saltwater burns in the tiniest wounds and is full of life that would like to install itself in your body.

Also happens to reflect 100% of UV light, so you can rub it on your nose/ears if it's too windy to keep the bimini up.

Trump knows that his voters are about to find out he lied to them about the Ukraine war. This is the look of a man who has lost.

(Full video here: youtu.be/_4hgzW5IWPw?si=UkJ7W2…)

in reply to Randahl Fink

Unfortunately, many will again find thousands of excuses for him. MAGA stupidity cannot be cured.
in reply to Randahl Fink

I don’t think his voters give a shit about the Ukraine war. They just know it’s a trump talking point and it pisses off the libs.

They’ll walk right past this lie because it’s not something they care about and, most importantly, they always look the other way when he’s caught bullshitting.

Otherwise the cognitive dissonance will short out their melons.

All important services have been migrated to the new server (thanks to @0xd9a for his precious help on that work).

We now have a faster and more reliable server for our services such the FDroid repo, translations, Nitter instance and Fediplan.

We would like to ask your help on #Opencollective so we can pay one year of server charges in one time (around 370 euros are needed).

Thank you for helping.
