BRICS PAY

「 BRICS PAY will feature a decentralized Cross-border messaging system (DCMS), developed by scientists of the Center of Saint-Petersburg State University of Russia. DCMS operates, transparently, without any central owner or hub. Participants manage their own nodes, allegedly making the system resistant to external abuse, control or interference 」

Yet another flooding in central Italy. Red alert close to Arno, schools+shops shut. It isn't bad weather, it's climate change! It's not a new normal, it's something that will get worse & worse until we stop our dependence from fossil fuels+deforestation. Watch here:

How can I say that? Because we know that as temperatures increase extreme weather events will also increase in frequency/intensity and will do so non-linearly. And we know that fossil fuels+deforestation are the main causes of temperature rise. Source: ipcc.ch/report/ar6/wg1/downloa… @IPCC_CH

There should be no tarrifs anywhere if you want to believe in fair markets.

Laws against stripping DRM from an audiobook to listen to it privately via different software is “another example of how anti-circumvention laws interfere with consumers’ rights of ownership over the things they buy," EFF’s @mitchstoltz told @arstechnica. arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025/0…
in reply to Electronic Frontier Foundation

@mitchstoltz @arstechnica

The problem I see is that most consumers either do not know better or maybe don't care.

In case customers would boycott DRM infected stuff - we might see this issue mostly go away...

we're a bit behind from where I'd like to be (if you don't plan your mental health break, your mental health will plan one for you) but I do hope to have a nicely revamped version of FreeCAD Parametric Web Viewer up in the next 2-3 weeks. we're not going for perfect but incremental improvements while I still have the money to pay for help.

Check out this wild creation from our community member Mictronics, shared in our Discord community! He built a #meshtastic node into an old #nokia 5130, and yes, the multi-tap keyboard works. Absolute retro tech wizardry.

new custom trackpad based on iqs9150 works in the MNT Reform Next! trackpad electronics by @timonsku, and i wrote the driver for it today (which runs in the keyboard). the tracking is very precise. gestures&unintentional multi finger rejection need some tuning but we have many options to work with.
in reply to lucie lukas "minute" hartmann

there's a nice three finger slide up gesture for "expose" type window selection too in GNOME, assuming you're reporting at least three touch points.
in reply to Pete Johanson

@petejohanson nice, i still gotta experiment with reporting actual touches to the OS vs the current mouse emulation approach
in reply to lucie lukas "minute" hartmann

oh, I thought that's what was going with your two finger gesture. If you follow the PTP spec/requirements closely enough, kernel should pick things up nicely and report touch data to the upper level and the GNOME gestures will work.
in reply to lucie lukas "minute" hartmann

Hey I tried to ask you on Bluesky. What is the sustained wattage the RK3588 can run at given the Reform Next is passively cooled?
