โ€œThe Trump regime is using the dictatorโ€™s playbook against what was once its closest ally.

This increasingly looks like a destabilization campaign aimed at annexing Canada. It would be foolish to believe this will be limited to the economic realm. If America is intent on annexing Canada, the CIA will be kicking into overdrive.โ€

Everyone who thought he was joking about being a dictator, are you waking up now?

Holy crap. The DOJ is arguing that the President can unilaterally deport anyone he wants without ANY statutory authority, just on his inherent authority as President over national security.
That is a terrifying claim to make and has never been recognized before in US history.

On the advice of @mia , and with the experience of @amd , I have decided to finally get Catboat-1 running again by rebuilding its toolhead. I'm going with the Xol, using the Tap carriage and the MeowXol faceplate. Now I have to order some parts (in transit now), but I can print the shell at least!

Overall, _super_ impressed with the design of these parts, especially their supports.

You can crimp two wires in the ferrule from opposite sides then put heatshrink over it. I guess you could crimp it just like a butt connector if you can't get the square/hexagonal tool around it topologically, but that's the aspect I like of using them.
in reply to Cassandrich

@dalias Ah, I see! I've seen that done for rings and forks when a wire splice was needed to go into the same terminal.

literally every genocidal regime says they were provoked. it's a core tenet of fascism that fascists always say that they were targeted and oppressed. Hitler said Jews were invading and undermining Germany, that they had provoked the war, and that his actions were revenge and self defense. 1

RE: bsky.app/profile/did:plc:qjoafโ€ฆ

in reply to Noah Berlatsky

it's vital to oppose genocide by reiterating that *excuses don't matter.* It doesn't matter what you say "they" did to you. Mass murdering civilians is unacceptable even if you think someone associated with those civilians did bad things to you.

I'm very happy to remove the code from Lobsters for geoblocking the UK, and my thanks to everyone who contributed to making sense of it. I wrote up everything we learned about it and why the risk seems low enough now, hopefully it's useful to other communities: lobste.rs/c/xevn8a

Holy shit, a few people suggested I should make an etsy shop to sell joystick 3D files instead of selling my own unit, tried to start one and by the time it asked for a photo of myself and a id card photo I was like...hell no, I'm not giving you my country ID card photo like that.

And that was the end of me trying to sell shit again, XD

And then someone suggested an easier place to sell designs, so here it is:

If people in the USA donโ€™t mobilize fast their democracy is gone. These dictators are moving at warp speed to dismantle absolutely everything and there will be zero money left for people to fight back.

#Signal adoption is really going well in the #Netherlands, these last few months! Found this lying on the coffee table in a church, yesterdayโ€”instructions on how to install Signal for the parishioners. Every day I get notifications for more contacts who've joined.

Getting my friends off #Meta and on the #Fediverse is going... less well. But I try not to let perfect be the enemy of good.

Times probably call for these old rules too.

1. Don't rat on your friends/compatriots.

2. Don't rat on yourself.

3. If they're still asking, they don't know.

I'd also add good advice from one of the top public defenders in Los Angeles: Do not give any false statement to police that they could corroborate. He gave the specific example of having an immigrant in your home and ICE agents come knocking.

If you say, "I don't know them" or "haven't seen them in weeks" but your phone or other evidence could prove false, that's a misdemeanor that could be made even more serious. Just say, "I can't help you" over and over again if necessary.

Vaginas make their own lubricant!

We bet you didnโ€˜t know that vaginas and sharks have something in common? The scientifically proven fact is that they both contain the substance called squalene. This exists in shark livers and is a natural vaginal lubricant.

Not many other body parts can say that. When you get aroused, more blood flows to your genitals, which cues you to get wet. That lubrication primarily comes through the vaginal walls, though you also get some wetness from the labia minora and from cervical discharge #vulva #vagina #pussy #wet #lubrication #aroused #arousal #shark

Self-care basketry projects this weekend: one uh... birdhouse? (or maybe suet block holder?) and one partially finished basket.

I was looking at various willow artists' websites for inspiration and the pictures on this website are just gorgeous: blithfieldwillow.com/basket-gaโ€ฆ . Everything from wine stands to giant rabbits to coffins.

Everything is willow-able!!

From @ScienceAlert: Baleen whales undertake some of the longest yearly migrations, with humpbacks travelling up to 8,300 km (about 5,150 miles) from Antarctica to warmer wintering grounds. With them, the whales shuttle resources from nutrient-rich polar regions to the less resourced warmer regions of the oceans. Amazingly enough, a huge amount of this nutrient distribution comes from whale urine, which disperses nitrogen and other elements through the ocean when nature inevitably calls.

I need some #lisp help.

I'm stuck on a recursion exercise - have been for 2 days!

We're given a at a structure a list of lists, where each such list is of the form (person mother father) .. and so a lot of these together create a family tree.

I want to write a function lineage x y which returns a list of ancestors from x to y ... eg x, mother of x, father of prev, y .... or NIL if y is not an ancestor of x.

I found this easy in #prolog (I wrote this prologbyexample.blogspot.com/2โ€ฆ ) but not #lisp.
