I did not attend the event, but I am very interested in the videos. I looked at your website and only found a link to your Youtube channel. Wouldn't it be more appropriate for the event and its participants to publish the recordings on a peertube instance? Maybe even your own?
in reply to Paul J Wege

@makeratschool Hi Paul, that certainly is on our to do list for the future. Right now we publish on YouTube and the TIB AV-Portal: av.tib.eu/publisher/Plain_Schw…

Also: The recordings of last week's event will follow in the next few days.

This is kinda cool as a concept. (It is a bit weird that the only documentation on how to install this still somewhat limited too expects you to run a k8s cluster)

WOW - The French government announced a new OSS project simply called Docs:

“A collaborative note taking, wiki and documentationZendisorm that scales. Built with Django and React. Opensource alternative to Notion or Outline."

It’s even offline-first, using the CRDTs under the hood (Y.js).

LOL, does this mean I get to roll out the

"Liberté, Egalité, CRDTé”

Dad joke?

I think it does. Link below:

The Pandemic Never Ended.

"5 years later, it is sad to think about what could have been ... For a moment, there was a sense that we cared about the vulnerable. There was a moment of solidarity, somewhere within the trauma."

"Those of us who don’t have the privilege of ignoring Covid know about the numerous studies that show the kind of damage Covid can cause on multiple organ systems. The young people having heart attacks. That people aren’t making connections between Covid infections and worsening immune systems feels unfathomable to those of us suffering from long Covid. People ask, naïvely, “Why do I keep getting sick?” Somehow, they don’t make the connection. Denial is a strong drug."

BBC: “Can you see any serious signs that Vladimir Putin is actually willing to enter into serious negotiations?”

President of Finland: “I think the chances are abysmal. I don’t think Putin wants a ceasefire. Putin doesn't want peace. His original aim was...basically to have #Ukraine ceasing to exist. He hasn't changed his aim. And this is what all of us around the table have to understand." Alex Stubb President of Finland 🇫🇮

Give back the Statue of Liberty, French MEP tells US

French Socialist MEP says Washington's embrace of dictators negates the values that led France to bestow the iconic statue some 140 years ago.

By Joe Stanley-Smith

💬 “We’re going to say to the Americans who have chosen to side with the tyrants, to the Americans who fired researchers for demanding scientific freedom: ‘Give us back the Statue of Liberty.’”

NEW: Why trying to understand what the Trump admin did in response to the TRO matters.

Planes were in the air. They kept going.

What did they do, and why? I strongly believe that it matters for our future that we work to understand what is happening at times like this.

If we make sure this is what happens every time a politician tries to throw trans people under the bus, there’s hope for all of us.

They want to eliminate due process for deportation and this is their test case.

Kind of like how they wanna arrest protestors without due process,
and fire government employees without due process,
and indict people without due process,
and seize assets without due process.

such a beauty design wise. Paited in dark grey or black it would still be a fit for industrial style scifi settings like as an terminal on some weapon system in the alien movies or so 😁

I really don't know how to keep saying this so cis people understand.

The Nazis in 1933 came for trans people. They burned our libraries to the ground. They raided and bombed our hospitals. They declared our existence illegal. And then they put us in concentration camps and gassed us.

The Nazis in 2025 came for trans people. They're burning our books. They're raiding and bombing our hospitals. They're declaring our existence illegal. And they're building concentration camps.

There's no fucking nuance here. There's no metaphor to be found. There's no allegory. There's no need to draw "similarities" between the Nazis then and the Nazis now, because it's the same people doing the same shit for the same reasons. It's not "similar". It's the same fucking thing.

And if you can't see that, if you've had blinders on for the last 92+ years, I just don't know how to fucking help you with that. If you think the Nazi attacks on trans people are somehow "recent", blame a Nazi, because Nazis are the reason you think that.

People don't know about this, though, because everyone *agreed* with that erasure. The gay people who were targeted in the Holocaust got some recognition at the end of the 20th century with the gay rights movement, but no one teaches about Hirschfeld in schools, almost no one in the mainstream knows that Berlin was the center of the world for queer and transgender people in the 1920s, no one knows about the Damenklubs and their complex gender dynamics, the passes that Hirschfeld issued, the way his research led directly to the pathologization in the DSM that lasted into the early 2000s. Dora Richter, Toni Ebel, and Gerda von Zobeltitz are not famous names like Anne Frank or Elie Wiesel. We should understand this not as a "return" to the acts of 1933 but as a continuation of a persistent, century-long erasure that has enabled this new wave to say things like "there was no such thing as transgender people until 5 years ago."

@FediTips I'm find repetitive identical posts from different accounts (?) like the ones below. There are 10 or more of them. Astronomy, climate change, and science related are big topics. They post within minutes of each other, bombarding my timeline.

I don't particularly want to block the hashtags. Blocking each account is nuts.

Do you have a suggestion how to get rid of these spammer pests?

Thanks!

in reply to Thin Crust Tavern Cut

Hmm... that does look like someone has connected some bot accounts to an LLM spam generator 😞

I tried to look up those posts but couldn't find them, are they still there?

It's obviously more important than ever that Canada diversify from the US. What better place to start than with the EU? We must forge tighter trading ties with the European Union and its individual member countries, and despite the UK government's apparent indifference to our plight with the UK as well.

I expect more from France and the UK, given their historical ties to colonial Canada and Canada's unwavering support for them in their times of need.

Don’t trust the UK, their government is pathetic, incompetent, corrupt and too busy trying to find ways to fuck with trans people to remember the times Canada saved their pathetic country. They are in full appeasement mode, and will sell out and betray anyone to get in good with the USA.

How a Columbia Student Fled to Canada After ICE Came Looking for Her - The New York Times

Ms Ranjani Srinivasan was doing a PhD in urban planning at Columbia and she's reportedly a Fulbright scholar. I hope a colleague in urban planning will realize the obvious win-win opportunity here and make her an offer in a Canadian university.
