Bauernpräsident Felßner zieht Minister-Bewerbung zurück br.de/nachrichten/bayern/bauer…

Welcome to the Trump economy, where US citizens can now pay for their food delivery in multiple installments — because paying interest on eggs and bread is just what you need, when you are down and out.

Update: As @maggiejk has helpfully mentioned below, these types of deferred payment schemes have been going on even before Trump’s presidency, so it is perhaps not entirely fair of me to attribute this to the Trump economy.

I saw this on instacart at Aldi last year (or maybe even 2023-I was trying to buy a $20 wooden raised garden bed) in the US. This isn’t from trump’s economy. I am not mad at people who want to blame him for this, but this has been happening for a long time.

The Auschwitz Memorial covers nearly 200 hectares of land and includes about 300 ruins and 155 buildings, but also a huge number of historical objects, primary traces of Victims of Auschwitz.

In our podcast, Nel Jastrzębiowska and Andrzej Jastrzębiowski from the Conservation Laboratories explain how these priceless items are preserved and discuss the philosophy of conservation of the Memorial today.

Forget usb C, I have the ideal USB connector.

Plugs in whichever way around, connecting into a plug or socket, and even if you don't have a plug or socket.

in reply to Extreme Electronics

Is that fast-charge compatible? My phone has a bent pin in the USB-C port. 😂

Things I miss from the UK: Flag Paints Rust Converter. Bought on recommendation from a fellow sailor. It's so good. Goes on dark grey, turns solid black as it does its thing and dries super fast. Then can be painted over (or left as is in nonexposed areas). Water based, so easy to clean tools and not very harmful.

It's way better than the usual phosphoric acid, not least of all because you can see what you have already painted.

Any smugglers? 😁

Found this product from Latvia, which appears to be quite similar to the Flag stuff. Will give it a try!

Nerd-sniped myself today by realising that the SmartPi touchscreen case I’ve got lying around will mount very nicely on the top of my printer. Time to rewire everything, and yay recycling! #3DPrinting
in reply to Robee? Na! 🌈

@RobeeShepherd nice, is that KlipperScreen? That's what I'm thinking of using. Are you using Spoolman with it as well?
in reply to James Smith 💾

Yes it’s so good! Really easy to use, no fat fingers. I keep meaning to use spoolman but never get around to it. I think it’s the admin of having so much filament to put in.
in reply to Robee? Na! 🌈

@RobeeShepherd excellent! Main reason I want to try Spoolman is that people want Manyfold integration with it, and I don't even know what that would mean, figure I should find out 😁
in reply to Robee? Na! 🌈

@RobeeShepherd love that box in the background labelled "3D Prints". Is there the word "Failed" above it, just out of shot? 😆
in reply to Robee? Na! 🌈

@RobeeShepherd hah - I have two similar boxes of *every bit of junk PLA I've ever discarded* waiting for the day I can actually recycle it.

I'm glad to see I didn't miss much with the new BL H2D and it's just a crapfest of just slightly larger proportions (edit: than an X1C)

Having a laser or a vinyl cutter addon is also...wtf.

I want a 3D printer that 3D prints, not a "machine to do all" that doesn't do the main function properly.

If I ever have this kind of money to get a specific 3D printer, i'll definitely go Prusa XL

The image is a four-panel comic strip. In the first panel, a brain with a face is depicted with a speech bubble saying, "Are you awake?" The second panel shows a person lying in bed, covered with a blanket, with a speech bubble that reads, "No. Shut up." The third panel features the brain again, this time with a speech bubble that says, "That monster you ran had resistance to nonmagical damage." The final panel shows the person in bed with wide eyes, seemingly startled, with the brain still present. The comic humorously illustrates the brain's persistent thoughts interrupting sleep, referencing a detail from a fantasy game.

Today I learned that North America has a library that is situated in two countries.

The Haskel Free Library is located directly on the border between Vermonth in the United States, and Quebec in Canada. The library even has a wide black line on the floor of the reading room, marking the Canada-US border.

I think this is a brilliant placement. This way, when Project 2025 is fully implemented, only half the books will get burned.

#DictatorshipLifehacks

in reply to Randahl Fink

Such places were once common. I'm old enough to remember. There were private homes that straddled the line, and at least one pub. (With ciggies sold on the end with lower taxes, heh.) I remember having to wake up a border guard in a tiny little hut once, where it wasn't apparent at all there was any border. That village is now filled with ugly concrete barriers.

We used to be very civilized and grown-up about all this. Now we're not, and it makes me very sad.

@marymessall oh, very interesting design. I’ve not seen one like that before. Not clear if it was originally Long Lines; there aren’t any of the original horn antennas, so if it had been, all the old antennas have been removed.

I'm looking for a job. I have 30 years of experience doing complex systems programming in many languages, most recently Typescript, Haskell, and Python. I learn quickly. I can do advanced mathematics.

In 2024 I helped a company migrate 15,000 customers from another company into their own systems.

In 2023 I helped develop a differential privacy database product written in Haskell.

Before that I helped develop a laboratory information management system that tracked up to 40,000 Covid-19 tests per day.

I live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, but I have years of success working remotely, and I am also willing to consider relocation.

Please check out my CV.

Donold took to Truth Social to accuse the artist of “losing her talent” and the governor of political sabotage. He thinks the governor took time out of their schedule to make sure a bad painting was made of him.

He just can’t accept this is what he actually looks like. It’s dead on accurate. It feels like God is looking at a photo. thegodpodcast.com/p/donold-rag…

I really don't feel it looks that much like him. I think it actually looks notably better than he does in real life. It looks younger, sharper, and more serious and mature.

No, it's a really bad portrait. Nowhere near jowly, sweaty, distended rectum-y enough looking.

I do not give it out to businesses that also want my phone number. They will just sell that combination of information.

They may get one, but not both. Avoid rewards programs.

When they ask if you are in their rewards program, if you say no, then they will ask if you want to join, you say no.

If they want my PII instead if cash, they are not worthy.

I prefef to reveal phone number, but no email.

When they ask, I just say my email is broken.
