Yesterday I had the great pleasure of meeting @cwebber AFK for the first time. I have been following her work since early MediaGoblins, thru to ActivityPub standardiziation & on to her work with @spritely. That people can exist in this digital and mental realm for so many years & then suddenly exist in front of you as real humans with flesh & bones never ceases to amaze me. I also got to meet Pooja, who's one of the people responsible for the initial industrial design for the MNT Pocket Reform!

@pluralistic has written the most concise description of Zuck in his tyro stage I've ever read: "a mere larval incel cooking up an online service to help him rate the fuckability of his female classmates." In your heart, you know that's still who he is.

He is in the country legally- he pays taxes, he's married to a US Citizen, he has no criminal record and now he's in ICE detention. Very effective questioning by Rep. @crow.house.gov in span of 3 mins

1. exposes how Hegseth endangered servicemembers' lives

2. shows that a scandal upon the scandal is the failure to take responsibility

Re this post from @Eetschrijver, here’s the thing:

In theory, in a functioning society, democracy and the rule of law protect everyone β€” including the wealthy and the powerful. People β€’willβ€’ seek redress for harms. If you take away their legal, economic, and electoral avenues for seeking redress, you haven’t removed their power; you’ve only removed all the nonviolent choices.

I’m not a fan of violence either. Unlike so many people, I am not scrapping for a fight. But that paragraph above is just reality β€” and the billionaires ignore it at their peril. mastodon.social/@Eetschrijver/…

in reply to Paul Cantrell

Well said, and you obviously know you find agreement from JFK: "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable."

Yet another airport near miss β€” and at Reagan national airport, the same place where 67 people died in a mid-air collision on Jan 29.

At this point, I am pretty skeeved out by the idea of air travel in the US.

In case you’re fuzzy about those 67 people dying in a huge plane collision…well, it was just two months ago, but I think we can all be forgiven for losing track of things in the maelstrom since then. Here’s info:

Will #Texas self-destruct its #CleanEnergy industry?

"The legislation would require 50% of new power plant capacity to beβ€‹β€œsourced from dispatchable generation other than battery energy storage,” penalizing solar and wind power, which pair best with batteries.

An earlier iteration of SB 388 explicitly called for half of new power plants to β€‹β€œuse natural gas,” and though the bill text no longer says that, the outcome would be the same: Gas would be the key beneficiary."

'β€œI live in an age of fear,” lamented the essayist and author EB White in 1947, after the New York Herald had suggested that all employees be forced to declare their political beliefs to retain their jobs. FreeCAD Telemetry addon is now available
Chris Hennes developed an opt-in Telemetry addon to help the development team make good decisions and help answer questions like:

How many people are affected by a given bug?

How many people are running an addon that may be affected by an API change?

Which platforms are the most popular and should receive the most development support?
