From a simple user point of view, if you have used Fedora, you will be familiar with Open Mandriva Linux.

Both use RPM packages and Dnf package manager. You can even download and install 3rd party RPM packages, for example, I installed iVpn directly from their website.

Their "Cooker" build is comparable to Fedora's "rawhide". Their "Rome" build is comparable "Fedora Release". Lastly, "Rock" is comparable to centOS.

The big difference with Open Mandriva Linux is you do not need to use the terminal to enable non-free firmware, drivers, or media codecs.

You simply need to open the app called, "Software Repository Selector" and check the boxes for the repositories you wish to enable. Once done, you can open either the store app or dnf dragon, for example, and install whatever you need.

It is point and click, easy.

You can, of course, still use the terminal, if that is what you prefer.

(There is always that 1 person, when I say, you don't need the terminal, that wrongfully assumes it is missing. Microsoft has PowerShell, and you can use it, but most people do not. It does not mean it is missing. The same thing is true with user-friendly Linux distros.)

The Anti-Deportation Collective

Fighting the Machinery of Deportation in France in the 1990s

crimethinc.com/AntiDeportation…

In this stirring first-person account, a participant recounts scenes from the movement against deportations in Paris in the late 1990s, including efforts to blockade the trains via which the police transported captured immigrants to the border.

As Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and their lackeys scapegoat the undocumented and kidnap immigrants who oppose genocide even when they hold green cards, it is a good time to study how people have resisted the violence of the state in other times and places.

Qidi 'engineering' strikes again: reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/commen…

tl;dr - a Qidi Plus4's SSR (which we have been warning about since day freaking 1) finally blew and caught fire, with serious consequences.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: do not buy Qidi printers, don't suggest others buy Qidi printers. This isn't just sloppy engineering, this is outright dangerous.

"At the population level, societies can work together to improve nutrition and sanitation in the world’s poorest populations. History has shown that better nutrition increases overall resistance to new infections, and better sanitation reduces how much and how often people are exposed to new pathogens. And in today’s interconnected world, the disease problems of any society will eventually spread to every society." 💡

The image depicts a dynamic scene set in a bamboo forest. In the foreground, a character dressed in a teal and gold traditional outfit with black pants and boots is performing a martial arts move. The character is holding a long red ribbon, which is being swung in a circular motion, creating a sense of motion and energy. The character's hair is tied back, and they are wearing a black blindfold, suggesting a focus on skill and technique rather than sight.

In the background, another character is seen falling to the ground, indicating a confrontation. The forest is filled with tall bamboo stalks, and the ground is rocky, with red leaves scattered around, adding to the autumnal atmosphere. The lighting is soft, with a misty background, enhancing the mystical feel of the scene.

to be fair, it is happening biannually, conscription of new trainee and release of those, who have served one year (now may be two) obligatory duty

We must remember that Putin was always going to have to do this but really really didn’t want to as the chance of coup or assassination goes up.

It means #Ukraine is breaking Russia. There is also a delay in this working so we can expect lines to be pushed back and even more incompetent Russians.
