I've been distantly aware of that, I loved those books as a kid and have been thinking of getting back into them someday. It's delightful that folks are keeping the spirit of them alive.

Agreed! Were my hobby spend not already uncomfortably excessive already this year, I'd buy the first few. As of yet, I'll wait... for now.

It is also an American product. That kind of disqualifies it from the start.

What does the legendary Lea Salonga — currently starring in Broadway's Stephen Sondheim's Old Friends — do on her one day off? She presents me with the Gary Miller Award at the New York City Gay Men's Chorus' 25th Silver Anniversary Gala!

A heartfelt thank you to NYC Gay Men's Chorus for an unforgettable evening, and to Lea, break a leg as you continue to shine in your latest Broadway triumph.

The image is a meme divided into two parts. The top part shows a control panel with two buttons. The left button is red and labeled "Play a frog for the third time," while the right button is blue and labeled "Play a character that fits the party and has a unique backstory." A hand is pointing towards the blue button. The bottom part of the image features a character from a movie, wearing a red jacket and goggles, with a wide smile, and the text "My player" is overlaid on the image. The character is driving a vehicle, suggesting excitement or enthusiasm.

...the image is haunted by the ghost of a very polite Victorian gentleman.

What do I expect from a system that let me collapse on the ER floor before nurses had the time to check my O2 despite being sent there immediately by a very concerned walk-in doctor.

That was a decade ago, hear it's not gotten better.

Okay, I know everybody wants to dunk on the vibes coders, ("help, I got hacked!") but... what if we have empathy for them, instead? What if *nobody* really knows what all the code in their stack does? I thought a little bit about what #hugops for vibes coders would look like, and how we build security and reliability for the inevitable new wave of coders who are going to use AI to help them build apps. fastly.com/blog/hugops-for-vib…
in reply to Anil Dash

I'll admit to taking a quite dismal view of using the same language to dismantle gatekeeping as to validate vibe-coding scams.

I don't believe we gain anything by pretending that complexity doesn't exist when we reach out to beginners — rather, I posit that helping beginners navigate and understand that complexity is much more effective at dismantling institutional gatekeeping.

If it's interesting, I wrote a bit more on that over at:

The image depicts a fantastical scene set in a misty, cavernous environment. At the center stands a figure in a flowing, green gown with large, leaf-like wings, holding a glowing green staff. This figure is surrounded by various creatures, including humanoid beings with animalistic features, such as fur and horns, and wolves. The creatures are adorned with armor and carry weapons, suggesting a sense of guardianship or protection. In the background, large, shadowy faces loom, adding to the mystical atmosphere. The color palette is dominated by shades of green and blue, enhancing the ethereal quality of the scene. The overall composition is rich with detail, blending elements of fantasy and nature.

The first V5 box proofs are in!

The real ones will be on brown craft paper (with a printed white background in certain areas) and the foam insert will be a cooler shape, but that's exactly why we do these.

Someone asked how much these cost to make on the other place, so prepare to laugh: ~$1.40 each at MOQ 1000.

idk if I got some deal because I've worked with them before, but yeah Zhibang Packaging does insanely good work and are great to deal with.

Those look fantastic. Maybe you're getting a good deal because your packaging is more fun than all the other boring stuff they probably do for others?
in reply to ducksauz 🦆

@ducksauz Man I hope so. I always wonder what that conversation is like with the engineers. Like, "this dude just sent us a 1GB Illustrator file that's pre-split CMYK process color and a white spot color underneath" and they could either be very annoyed or very excited to do something kinda weird.
in reply to Kevin Santo Cappuccio

I'm sure they get pre-split CMYK all the time, as it's kind of what print shops expect. But your artwork is just :chef's kiss:

@rodlie It's amazing for me to learn how much of its own problem that is.
