Goodmorning #fosstodon and #fediverse ☕️ Another update!

I had a call with @kev and @mike yesterday. They took me through the admin workload and whoo. It's A LOT. It's seriously impressive how much they do in order to keep Fosstodon running, nice, and safe. They will stay on for a bit to help train successors. K&M THANK YOU again for all the hard work 👏👏👏

It's not going to be easy, and it will take a team, but it's doable. Immediately after this toot I'll post what I'll need and next steps! 1/2

🤡🤡🤡 Peskov: "Nazism, its roots remained very deep. It was Ukraine that turned out to be a country where these shoots of Nazism began to grow faster than in other countries. And these Nazis began to walk with torches again, began to raise their hands. These Nazis began to try to influence the government. We could not help but react to this, and our president did what he had to do."

One of my favourite* #WitchyWalks here, soon to be inaccessible due to eyeball height nettles!

That's one of the things I love so much about being connected to the land around me, seeing the cycles and patterns, and having to adjust my own to suit nature's rhythms.

* The only thing I don't like is the sound of traffic nearby, hence the music!

in reply to Jürgen Hubert

something like this happened in Brazil in 2001,the cause then was a lack of redundancy and resilience in the power grid, which made impossible to take power from areas where it was generated to where it was needed.
We build redundant power lines and new hydroelectric and thermoelectric power plants to avoid this happening again. And since then our renewable power grid, mostly eolic, grew orders of magnitude.
But our case wasn't a sudden and unexpected blackout, but more gradual with power failing in some areas, and already expected rationing.
P.S. since the lion share of our power generation is hydroelectric, excess power generation is used to pump water uphill, back to the reservoir, creating a kind of gravity battery in the system.

I realise there are 'probably' worse problems in the world, but I can't turn my shower on without it getting my hand and lower arm wet with freezing cold water. Every day I play the game, like Indiana Jones swapping out that golden rock for a bag of sand, of turning the faucet then attempting to best the angry water gods by removing my hand quick enough so as to not be punished. And today I am thrilled to report I am a dry dry boy.

in reply to Benack OBena

ah, we have one that the shower hose detaches, so I can get in and then move the shower hose away from me and turn it on.

I would be doing the same as you otherwise, like always running the wet or dry gauntlet.

This must be watched. This is one of those “do not look away” moments. Not because it happened to US citizens but that the utter despair of the victims of a mistaken ICE raid should be seen and digested.

This is not unfamiliar police behavior in the "war on drugs" or "gangs" context. It's not unfamiliar to marginalized groups in our society.

Instead of allowing ourselves to get used to this new excuse for overpolicing, we should become outraged in those old contexts, too.
