Very aggressive trucks revving intentionally as what I'm assuming was a planned counter action.
But all in all, a really great turnout and much more energy than past events. Hope we can keep it up.

Did my first #AmateurRadio bike race support today as a family activity. My oldest and I ran separate ham SAG vehicles, and my wife ran net control some of the time.
I had borrowed a mobile U/VHF rig from my club so that we could have one rig in each vehicle, but then my coax was apparently damaged for the antenna in the other car which disabled its mobile rig, so "bring your HT just in case" was good advice. Fortunately, we were using a great repeater, so the HT worked just fine.
Anyway, I'm going to make a couple window pass-throughs instead of continuing to pinch coax in the door, and replace the RG58/U that was damaged with RG400. I think I'll use SMA for the splice near the antenna base, and then heat shrink around it, so that it doesn't damage the roof of the car and is waterproof, but can also be easily replaced again if necessary.
And... Signed up to do this again next month! 🎉
The first pass-through I just free-handed experimentally with no plan, and it's so ugly I won't post pictures. It was made from scraps I found in my workshop. (Never throw anything away! It might come in handy some day!)
Leftover polycarbonate from one project. Some pieces of stainless steel from a discarded dishwasher front panel free-handed with air shears. Some of the screws were from my first 3d printer.
It flexes into the window track above the window, with ridges that hold it to the top of the window, then just close the window until it stops. It has a loose hole for the coax, because this goes in a siding door and someone might accidentally open it with the wire installed.
It will still need tape to keep out heavy rain, but that's OK.
Now maybe I'll plan one for my wife's car, such that unlike this one it maybe looks slightly respectable when I'm done. 🤣
