Just spent an hour at the #SimiValley #NoKings protest. It’s in the usual spot over by the police station and library.

Whilst I give every support to #noKings day, this side of the pond we have had the King's official birthday, trooping the colour, and birthday honours to the great and the good, and now Sir David Beckham.
Us Brits rather enjoy seeing a golden coach, the Household Cavalry and a King with no real power. Our condolences to your plight.

There were 5 people *total* who made it clear they disagreed with us. One yelled "That's my king!" like the fool he is. Two just yelled "Trump!" One, a biker trying to look intimidating, and briefly emboldened by seeing me alone for a minute while the others had stepped away, told me to shove my sign up my ass and suck a D, but I laughed and encouraged him to lead by example.
The least pleasant one, though, was the guy who laughed at us, then circled back to "debate" me -- mainly consisting of being condescendingly dismissive and laughing to my face. He stopped laughing, though, when I showed him sources that RFK Jr **really did** espouse labor camps to "reparent" autistic people, addicts, people w/ mental health problems, and young Black men. Suddenly, his laughter started sounding hollow and forced, and he started making excuses to leave. As unpleasant as it was, I think maybe that's where I made the most difference today. That guy might actually go think about it and change his views.

This was my very first protest *ever*. Even after spending more than an hour in the Texas heat with only 3 people, and being threatened by a biker and harrassed by a debate bro, it was FAR more fulfilling than I had imagined it would be. I will be participating in the future. I encourage others who are unsure of themselves like me to do the same. So worth it. I feel like I made a difference today, and that's something money can't buy.

Please, biker dude, I am not intimidated. I may look mild and unseasoned, but I've lived for nearly 5 decades as an autistic person. I've seen the dark underbelly of human behavior, mostly as the intended target. I've been held down and beaten by a group of grown men. My front tooth was knocked out on another occasion, and I put it back in. Those people were dangerous, but they all looked harmless. You think your carefully orchestrated *display* of faux toughness is going to worry me?

Today I started the prep for holidays,
And did a big load of laundry.
Then popped out to the shops,
And got a few groceries, and milk for Mum.
Made sure all the house plants were well watered,
And started sorting stuff to take.
Found the welly boots,

Had dinner with Mum,

We now have both our cars being EV's, a '22 Polestar2 and just recently got the new Volvo EX30. Last week we had the Polestar in for a scheduled maintenance checkup (which they pick up and return) and they left us a loaner, which was a gas powered new Volvo. That's when you re-learn why driving an EV is SO much better. Once you drive an EV, you never want to go back internal combustion.
I love being in front at a stop light, then when the light turns green, I smoothly zoom off with instant torque while the cars behind me lag behind, haltingly moving forward with turbo lag from their Big Oil car...even if it's a muscle car.
And, of course, driving past gas stations.
My first experience with an EV wasn't quite the same. It looks fast, but with 8hp, it was fast like a Ford Pinto. Brother was working on it for Exide and brought it home for a spin in 1974.
