I think the "freak out" is due to the recent bad losses and a lack of a sense that there is a new tactic to address why those losses happen beyond "say ominous things about trans people because the country is moving more conservative"
Democrats keep telling us "Our democracy is in danger!" and I believe them about that one. But I don't have much confidence they can meet the moment and turn things around.
