‘Time to Wrap It Up!’ Megyn Kelly Warns Israel That It ‘Has Made Itself the Villain of the World’ mediaite.com/media/news/time-t…

well the rice tasted really good, but I am still having issues where it sticks together. the last time I made it, I did six cup rice and 10 cups water. this time I tried four cups rice and 8 cups water, the actual 1 to 2 ratio, and it didn't help any at all. not only does it still kind of stick together, it has a slight sticky feel to it. I mean it still tastes good, don't get me wrong, but what am I doing wrong? I would think less water would be even worse, but I am just not getting something right. remember this is a rice cooker that you just push the little button donw, and it pops up when it is done, and changes to a keep warm state

ok, that at least gives me an idea of how long to do it for. here is hoping my hands let me play in cold water for that long. smile.
in reply to JamminJerry

If you have a spatula, you could use that instead of your hand to turn the rice. Or a wooden spoon anything that will kind of allow you to gently stir it.
in reply to Hell's Kitchen Bitches! 🦮🔥

@Pawpower @Lynn hmmmm. I will have to think of what we have that might allow me to do that. we have a bunch of things most of them are plastic, but not plastic? I know that isn't very helpful, but I am not quite sure what to call them. smile. a hard plastic? lol. I am sure I am wrong with that too, but it is all good. I am sure I will think of something. my hand might work, as long as I don't have to have it in the cold water for long. thank goodness it isn't as cold as a freezer. that makes my fingers, and part of my hand start to hurt.
in reply to Hell's Kitchen Bitches! 🦮🔥

@Pawpower Actually, I think you could use the spatula that comes with the rice cooker. It would be perfect for that purpose. It's plastic, so it wouldn't harm the strainer surface either. I use that spatula to stir the rice when cooking, and also to remove the cooked rice from the rice cooker.

A quotation from Lincoln

To correct the evils, great and small, which spring from want of sympathy, and from positive enmity, among strangers, as nations, or as individuals, is one of the highest functions of civilization.

Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865) American lawyer, politician, US President (1861-65)
Speech (1859-09-30), Wisconsin State Agricultural Society, Milwaukee

A Historic First: Ciara Receives Benin Citizenship During Rolling Stone Africa Milestone Visit

“I truly feel so thankful and my heart is full of so much gratitude during this special moment,” Ciara shared during the ceremony. “I feel incredibly proud to be a Benin citizen. This is more than symbolic, this is deeply personal, and I cannot wait to go home and show my family this beautiful certificate. The significance of this moment is so powerful.

So, does this "goo.gl" problem actually mean all the goo.gl stuff, or is it just third-party URLs getting cut? Gmaps is still creating maps.app.goo.gl links.

mastodon.social/@jpmens/114937…

(For the record I think URL shorteners are very dumb and very bad, but regardless here we are so.)

Update: @denschub points out that Google Apps are getting a pass: mastodon.schub.social/@denschu…

Y'all still have this on your calendars, right?!

“Any developers using links built with the Google URL Shortener in the form goo.gl/* will be impacted, and these URLs will no longer return a response after August 25th, 2025. We recommend transitioning these links to another URL shortener provider.”

Edit to add quotation marks and say URL shortening sucks for more than one reason

Given it's Google, I wouldn't be too surprised if the answer is "we had this built by a fresh graduate that we like to exploit so much, the shitty Go codebase is too hard to maintain, Gemini didn't manage to refactor it, and more profit is more good, so fuck you, internet". Because, well, capitalism.
in reply to Dennis Schubert

I suspect it might be simpler still. Have you looked at alerts.google.com or code.google.com recently? They just... put up placeholders and forgot about them.

Maybe it's nothing more complicated than, nobody's getting promoted for this, nobody gets promoted for maintenance anything so nobody cares.

Have not been having a good time of it lately, but my life was brightened a bit this morning by the local Anna's hummingbird (he lives in a tree across the way) coming to nom for a while on the coral fountain's flowers while I was out watering the tomato plant. 🥰
