This is the end of a defamation lawsuit that Project Veritas filed against Stanford Internet Observatory, UW, and the NYT back in 2021. It lost its case against SIO in 2022, and was ordered to pay $150k in legal fees. They sue to tie organizations up for years. www.nytimes.com/2025/07/25/b...

Actually wait, no, I have two books I have completely enjoyed writing the entire time: my abridged Shakespeare's Sonnets and my abridged Beowulf (not released, though I posted a bunch years ago on the Bird Site) I think I know why, though:
in reply to Zach Weinersmith

These books basically consist in solving tiny puzzles, connected to a moderate amount of research. "Take this sonnet, understand it, then rewrite it in 16 syllables." It's like a crossword puzzle. Beowulf is more open-ended, but similar.
in reply to Zach Weinersmith

They are not... literature, but they have definitely been fun. I'm planning to release the mini Beowulf along with Bea Wolf 2, but that'll be a while, I'm afraid!

#TrumpRegime:🚨shifting its tone on how it handles #immigrants brought to the US as children under the DACA program.

In recent months, the regime has tried to strip 525K DACA recipients (Dreamers), of benefits, although no reg chgs have been made to end the program.

HHS said it'd make DACA recipients ineligible for the fed HC mktplace in June.

Suggesting they self-deport is beyond the pale. Protect #DACA! These ppl are among the best & brightest.

moresci.sale/@birds/1149385318… birds@moresci.sale - Slaty-backed Gull

Thickset, short-winged, pot-bellied gull. Adult has dark gray back and wings, intense pink legs, and an especially large white “crescent” (white tertial edges) near the wingtips when perched. Breeding adult white-headed; nonbreeding birds have variably heavy brown streaking on the head and upper breast. Takes four years for immatures to progress from mostly brown to fully white and gray adult plumage; intermediate plumages are often mottled and messy. Often looks rather frosty by the first winter; starts to develop a gray back and whitish eye in its second year. Primarily an Asian species, found in coastal regions from Japan and South Korea to Russia. Regularly occurs in western Alaska, but very rare elsewhere in North America.

Sad: Anime's Fascinating Nonlinear Storytelling Caused By Misnumbered Episodes In Plex

Hey #Monsterdon, if you'd like to suggest some squares for The Raven's bingo card, I could use your ideas 👇🏼

What are you hoping to see in a Vincent Price/Gothic Horror/Poe movie?

reshared this

in reply to Cherizilla 🍿

Caveat (may or may not be a good thing): I'm not sure I've ever read the raven by Poe and if I have don't recall the details

nevermore is said by the raven
nevermore is said by a character other than the raven
someone gets into a discussion on crows vs. ravens (either on fedi or in the movie?)
the raven drops a feather
the raven poops on something obviously
raven claws someone's eyes out
too much black velvet (maybe dark red also counts?)
architecture that is clearly from the wrong period
a terrible (or awesome?) mustache in homage to Poe
references to a different well known Poe story

‘Time to Wrap It Up!’ Megyn Kelly Warns Israel That It ‘Has Made Itself the Villain of the World’ mediaite.com/media/news/time-t…

well the rice tasted really good, but I am still having issues where it sticks together. the last time I made it, I did six cup rice and 10 cups water. this time I tried four cups rice and 8 cups water, the actual 1 to 2 ratio, and it didn't help any at all. not only does it still kind of stick together, it has a slight sticky feel to it. I mean it still tastes good, don't get me wrong, but what am I doing wrong? I would think less water would be even worse, but I am just not getting something right. remember this is a rice cooker that you just push the little button donw, and it pops up when it is done, and changes to a keep warm state
in reply to Lynn I 🗽 💙

ok, that at least gives me an idea of how long to do it for. here is hoping my hands let me play in cold water for that long. smile.
in reply to JamminJerry

If you have a spatula, you could use that instead of your hand to turn the rice. Or a wooden spoon anything that will kind of allow you to gently stir it.
in reply to Hell's Kitchen Bitches! 🦮🔥

@Pawpower @Lynn hmmmm. I will have to think of what we have that might allow me to do that. we have a bunch of things most of them are plastic, but not plastic? I know that isn't very helpful, but I am not quite sure what to call them. smile. a hard plastic? lol. I am sure I am wrong with that too, but it is all good. I am sure I will think of something. my hand might work, as long as I don't have to have it in the cold water for long. thank goodness it isn't as cold as a freezer. that makes my fingers, and part of my hand start to hurt.
in reply to Hell's Kitchen Bitches! 🦮🔥

@Pawpower Actually, I think you could use the spatula that comes with the rice cooker. It would be perfect for that purpose. It's plastic, so it wouldn't harm the strainer surface either. I use that spatula to stir the rice when cooking, and also to remove the cooked rice from the rice cooker.
