in reply to Khurram Wadee • • •I dunno, I think holding it as a conditional is not unreasonable, especially given that the entirely sensible conditions aren't ones that anyone expects them to meet. It gives Israel a clear choice. In their instant dismissal of any such prospect they expose themselves (yet again) as being the ones at fault. It shows the UK as still trying to work with its so-called allies and respecting diplomatic norms. In addition, Labour are still not fully out of the shadow of the anti-Semitism allegations, and sadly Israel has managed all too effectively to conflate criticism of their government with criticism of their people. It's a sensible diplomatic compromise, IMHO.
That said, I hold the current Israeli government to have all the same moral virtues as Russia or North Korea.
