I passed by the Manhattan Municipal Building a few weeks ago and was struck by its massive size. It was built to meet the demand for more government office space after the consolidation of the five boroughs in 1898, and at one million square feet is one of the largest government buildings in the world. (Thanks, Wikipedia!)

@Star12Mt Seems like an impressive/intimidating place to do jury duty! I was just passing by and couldn’t linger, but I want to come back someday to get better angles and also get up close under the archways and vaulted corridors.

i've only been chosen and completed a trial once, a good 33 years ago. It was not a good experience. But mostly I just have had no other reason to be down there. Now that you mention it though, I'm sure there's some great buildings

@Star12Mt Wow, only once? I’m envious. I’ve been called up several times and been chosen to sit on two trials. I guess a positive thing was that one of the jurors worked for a patisserie and brought in pastries for the jury one day. Pretty interesting experience but I’ll be glad if I never have to do it again.

I accidentally deleted my first post. I was saying I was 22 years old, which makes it more like 35 years ago😅. The trial was uneventful, but once we got in the jury room no one followed the instructions of the judge. So everyone just argued a lot
