i've just had to order our groceries on the grocery site's app because doing so would give me 15% off and we can't afford not to take that. but trying to do the actual product search and selection on my phone is so annoying that i did it all on the website, put everything into my basket, and then just logged in via the app to buy the stuff.
this makes me batey for some reason.

for me it's also that i just don't like having to interact with the world through a screen in general, but through a small screen that fits in my hand just seems daft. why should i have to buy my groceries through a keyhole? bah. and i don't think even the best UI on earth could solve that, it's just that we're not meant to do so much in so small a space!
but yes, workaround achieved. next time though i might keep a squirrel to hand, just in case ... 🌰
I certainly share your loathing for interacting with anything on a phone screen that is less than 6.2 inches (as my thumbs struggle at that stage).
However, interestingly enough, anything mobile device that is 6.5 or 6.6 inches in screen size, makes it easier for me to interact with smaller interfaces. I don't struggle, I thrive and can: quickly complete grocery orders, product research, and other tasks. I'm a weird person, I just adapt to things relatively quickly.
It is a valid statement to say that not all humans are meant to do so much in a small screen space. Some of us love the roomier interfaces that a Laptop or Desktop computer can provide. I will choose a larger interface over a smaller one if at home; if I'm out and about or don't want to wait to reach my PC while doing dishes...I use the smartphone.
Do keep an angry squirrel on speed dial, you never know when they can help! 🌰🐿️ (it's a chipmunk, honestly, truly! There's no emoji for a squirrel, 🤔).
